How is his return ability?
Not to pile on, but adding to Ironman8's comments, Folston is a tremendously versatile athlete. Even if he fails to win any offensive carries in 2013, he's very likely to end up on ST. I don't think a redshirt is in his future.
Should we burn a redshirt just to put him on special teams? Unless he can crack the 4 man RB rotation we use, I don't think he should waste a year catching a few punts or kick returns.
Tarean, a chara,
Fáilte ar bord! Go gcuire Dia an t-ádh ort!
Beannacht Dé leat!
Beir bua agus beannacht,
the old Bogtrotter
First off we need all the help on ST we can get, so if he can come in early and contribute to making our ST better I really hope that happens.
Second, some players are simply not 5 year guys, meaning that there is no benefit to sitting them out a year even if they are not a starter because they will not, in a likelihood, be here all 5 years anyway. If Tarean is good enough to contribute to our team early (which I think he and Bryant both are), even if he is not a major factor, I hope he is on the field helping us win in '13.

Finally made a decision and im proud of myself and ready to take on the challenge! #ND
Go Irish!
Tarean just took part in the hands competition. Christian on ISD was extremely impressed with how good his hands are. Only missed the balls that sailed over his head.

I'm sorry man but there is no possibly way anyone can say this with any semblance of certainty. We are losing our top 2 backs and then will have the great luxury of having a stable of Folston, Bryant, Carlisle, Atkinson, Mahone and McDaniel battling it out for carries in '13. No one can know right now how that will play out, but I think the one thing we can be sure of happening is that the competition will bring out the best in all of them.
“It’s a great program, they’re winning,” Folston told Irish Sports Daily of Notre Dame on Monday. “They have a few backs leaving, so…I could jump right in and play with Greg Bryant, also out of Florida. It’d just be a great situation.”
He again reiterated Bryant’s commitment as a factor in Notre Dame’s favor.
“That actually helps,” he said. “All of the pressure wouldn’t be on me and I wouldn’t be taking all of the hits, we would just split the time up. I don’t mind sharing it as long as we get the job done.”
