Just wanted to bump this kid's thread to really honor the work this young man has put in on the recruiting of his fellow classmates. This young man really puts his money where his mouth is and doesn't just pay lip service to building the bonds of family with his teammates. This guy has been all in since he committed and his personality reminds me a lot of Tony Rice or the Rocket, always smiling, very happy-go-lucky, kind of person that just lights up the room. This kid is going to be a great fit at the University of Notre Dame. Thanks Devin.

Devin is a character. It's obvious that he will be a cohesive influence on the team. He will keep it fun...you need those guys in the locker room. His post on twitter are hilarious. I'm glad he is on board!

CB Devin Butler and LB Doug Randolph will play against ATH Rashad Kinlaw in this Saturday's Cheaspeake Bowl featuring players from NJ, NY, PA, and DE against player's from D.C., MD, VA, and WV.

Looks like he might be moving up the rankings...

I think we'll see a little bit of movement post AA games. Not too much though. I think he's still too raw as a DB to move to high. The whole ATH tag IMO has historically deflated ratings.

Devin Butler: The Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga defensive back has been more than solid throughout the week in pass coverage. Butler, who's committed, to Notre Dame has roomed with fellow Irish commitment Doug Randolph this week. There are high expectations for the four-star two-some in South Bend.

From Chesapeake Bowl.

All for Shurburtt:

-The length of Bama commit Anthony Averett, Notre Dame commit Devin Butler and Oklahoma commit Ahmad Thomas stands out among the DBs.

Notre Dame commit Devin Butler impresses with how fluid he moves.

They've started WR vs. DB drills and Notre Dane commit Devin Butler looks very impressive. Quickness, recovery speed, hips, feet.

On more note- Malik Zaire is talking to the Marines here and talking about doing their PT regimine and IMO he and Devin Butler are showing the most leadership on either side of the ball.

Butler's name came up as much as, if not more than, anyone in 247's notes from Semper Fi practice. He gets a little lost in this class sometimes; good to get a reminder from the national guys to be more excited about him.

Over the summer the only knock on Butler was his feet and hips because he just didn't have much training at the CB position. Seemed raw was commonly used. These updates have specifically mentioned his hips and feet being some of the best there. Shows his dedication and work ethic that he turned a weakness into a strength.

It has been said by many, myself included that the intangibles, specifically the commitment to Notre Dame, God given talent, and family taught leadership qualities make this Irish class exceptional. These guys are winners, they will be successful in all their pursuits, we are very lucky to have identified them and effectively showed them how they are what we are all about. This has been one of the most exciting Notre Dame Football seasons and recruiting years I have ever witnessed. (And there have been a lot of them)

Hope Malik doesn't de-commit and join the Marines.

From Wednesday Top Performers:

2. Devin Butler, CB, Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
On the hoof, Butler is physically one of the most well-equipped players in the East defensive backfield. After a solid day on Tuesday, Butler was outstanding on Wednesday using his long frame to disrupt receivers and showing the athleticism to stay on top of vertical routes and double moves. The Notre Dame commit looks like an elite defender.

Sapp said either this morning or last night that there is a very good chance Butler gets a ratings bump from 247. I mentioned this in the class ranking thread as well. Our class is not only going to add a couple more players to it but we'll also get a bump due to some of the guys like Butler that will get their own personal increase in the rankings. Good to be irish.

Brian Kelly is one of the best talent evaluators in the country, if not the best. He's damn good at finding those diamonds in the rough.

It's funny because I keep thinking he's the worst prospect in this class. SMH @ myself. How is it that we have no marginal prospects in this entire recruiting class?????

Check my post out in McGlinchey's thread. Thinking the same thoughts.

I don't have a specific answer for this question but I would assume it would be around the second or third week of January. They usually get together after the AA games and come out with the final rankings.
