Pretty sure we're still in good shape until he comes out sand says something to the contrary (which there's a strong chance he might). Coming into this visit we had a very strong lead, but Kiffin & co. know how to 'wow'... plus, his parents never made it to ND, did they?

This is my attitude too ... Not going to worry till there's something to worry about ... but I'm aware that there may be something to worry about if the visit went as well as people are saying. We'll see how he feels in a few days after he comes back down to Earth from the visit.

I agree with the line of thinking that says if he left USC's campus uncommitted, I like our chances. If he had a good time, it doesn't totally shock me. I hate USC and I bet I would probably have a pretty good time on an official visit out there.

Update also said that Max's parents visited SC with him and seemed very pleased, so that's not good since they didn't visit ND with him. SC definitely has the momentum right now it seems.

Didn't BK already use his in-home and not even spend time with Max b/c he had a basketball game that night?

Well I'm trying not to be impatient about this one but he has been one of the most exciting prospects on our board since the Stanford game! Gotta just take a deep breath and see how this one shakes out. I really do hope we can pull this one off but in a situation like this, there is only one way I can root for ya kiddo!;)

Feb. 6th is a long way away my friends. Score 1 for USC here, this one is not even close to being over...

How about he did talk to one person about the possibility of rejoining SC's class (not sure who)? Does that make you feel all warm and tingly?

It means nothing to me actually. The entire reason for his visit was to explore the possibility of rejoining SC's class, so I would be surprised had he not talked to a person about that possibility. Hell, I would bet he talked to 3 or 4 about that!

He's planning to announce January 4th at the UA game.

Yeah yeah, look if I'm supposed to be the optimistic one you can't kick my dog like that. ;)

All jokes aside I'm really not sure how the class will finish but I tell ya getting Bryant and Byrne this weekend is plenty reason for all of us to keep smiling! We just gonna have to wait and see how the ball bounces!

That brings up an interesting semantics question: What's the definition of an "in-home." If all Kelly did was go to a basketball game (which presumably he could do as a member of the public) can he go back for another round?

Kelly did visit with Max's parents, who had not come out to ND with Max and I assume had never met Kelly or the coaches, at their home, and then he went to Max's school to speak with him after his game. So presumably his in-home is blown.

Seems kind of dumb to visit that day, but the buzz was that Kelly did it that way because he wanted to a) sell Max's parents on ND, and b) make sure to visit on the first day of the contact period to show Max that he was a priority.

I'm not going to second-guess the staff on that. I'll assume that it was the right move to show Max that he was a priority, and if he wavers, send Diaco and Cooks or Elliot for damage control.

While disappointing, it's almost expected. Let the luster of the visit wear off. This kid will undoubtedly be shown by our staff that he is a priority. If he has legit interest in ND at that point, I have faith things will work out. If they don't, it won't be for lack of trying on the staff's account. I think we'll be OK here.
