That is interesting.

Every coach's goal is to compete for a NC, and now Diaco would walk away from that opportunity while he is at the doorstep of it just to get a jumpstart at BC of all places? I can see maybe where it would be something to at least consider if it was a job with a top level program where the likelihood of another shot at a NC would be somewhat likely, but this just makes no sense to me to consider doing this in order to go to BC. Can't see it happening.

"Could" = "could not."
But I'd think if he gets it/takes it, he owes it to BC to start right away. Sucks for us, but that's life.

I'd like to see him hold off and replace Ferentz @ the Alma Mater.

Has anyone mentioned Jags for the job? He's not otherwise committed...

lol, he definitely burned that bridge, didn't he? It was weird that the AD wouldn't let him interview for the NFL job though.

if the meeting has already occurred its not even hours old yet, so i take Schads comments with a grain of salt..... Jut like Stoops/Gruden/Edsall to ND pre kelly... these things usually take time to develop, i take that comment as more of a "if then" statement not its official or close to it

??? Who would want to start coaching a school that will never be in a NCG vs. finishing your job in the freaking National Championship Game! Doesn't make any sense therefore I think they are looking for stories and there is non bigger than anything Notre Dame related right now.

I've read a couple places now that if Al Golden doesn't take the job then Diaco is the #1 guy... and I don't expect Al Golden to take the job... as the NCAA continues to drag their feet on Miami sanctions.

#BC may be closing in on a coach. Many sources indicate #ND Def Cord Bob Diaco is the top choice if Al Golden turns it down.

Maybe we can start the Jon Gruden to BC rumor. It pretty much brought Vol Nation to a stand still.

I have mixed feelings on this. I have a hard time seeing the Diaco we all think the world of abandon the guys before the biggest game ever.
I understand why teams want their coach in the fold as early as possible (Though I think it's wrong for a lot of reasons), but I just can't see Diaco agreeing to leaving the team before the game is over. He just doesn't look like that kind of guy.

this is so gross. BC has fallen into the abyss. one can't get a better HC job after several more years or one more year of nasty ND defense?

again -- its awesome to be top choice, or even 2nd in this case, but it takes TWO to make a deal.... Im sure Saban is top choice for a lot fo schools but hes not leaving

... i know extreme but the point remains takes two to tango and we dont know how The Hair feels about this

diaco knows that he can pick his own salary at ND right? whatever he wants is fine. Alumni will foot the bill. Heck, I'd personally drive to south bend and give him a back massage and breakfast in bed every sunday morning next year if he wants it.

If he did take the BC job would he be able to get the athletes he would need to institute the type of defense he has coached at ND?

I will send a check or money order to contribute to the save Diaco fund.

Nothing but the best for Coach Diaco, but Boston College?! That's just flat out disgusting. The constant fly in Notre Dame's soup bowl.

I kind of agree with this, but! Remember the biggest game in the history of Cincinnati Football? Their head coach bolted for his dream job. Now this may not be BD's dream job, but it is his opportunity to become a head coach. BK was thought of the same way by UC fans. Loved by his players. No one thought he was the kind of guy that would abandon that team before the biggest game of that program.

I really hope this does not happen, but it also would not surprise me.

I see your point but Diaco would be walking away from the NC and not just a a BCS bowl game. Big difference IMO.

all good points but there was nothing Cincin had to offer BK on top of love for his guys that could stand up to the NDHC position. Diaco has the love (i think), but also he probably won't make much more at BC, and there will be many other comparable jobs to BC in years to come.

Hey here's a thought, what if he became a career ND guy and replaced BK a la bob davie lol??

Kerry Cooks embrace of Kelly at end of USC game might have been foreshadowing? Maybe that ruffled the mane?

I hope Montelus isn't that stupid. Lets face it, Boston College sucks at football right now. It's gonna take a few years imo for them to be any good

Whatever happens, I don't see this being dragged out. Having witnessed Coach Diaco's style, he'll drop the hammer right away. As others have said before, it's likely this is not about the dinero. Every man has their ambitions.

From an agent's standpoint the philosophy is hit when the iron's hot. Right now it is unfortunately. I don't like it but I see the thinking. Take the job now so in case a defensive debacle occurs like what happened to Georgia (300+ yards rushing) you can't be blamed for it.

I don't like it any more than you guys and pray that I am wrong but I just don't have a good feeling about this.

There's got to be something we're missing here. BC is a sh!tty HC job: pro-town, Boston is far removed from anything resembling a recruiting hotbed, BC's current team is a dumpster fire, etc.

Diaco could do exactly what Muschamp did. Stick around for a few years, win a title or two, and wait for the big offer to come. Why would he toss that away for BC?
