Any particular reason or insight above what's been discussed to make you feel that way?

AQM is rumored to be a silent commit already, and given Redfield's recent comments regarding his decommitment from USC, we likely have a strong lead for him as well.

#NotreDame assistant coach Mike Denbrock was at CA WR Sebastian Larue's school today.

Absolutely love both players. LaRue is this year's Davonte Neal. Nice work, Denbrock.

Assume we land Bryant. Would you rather have LaRue or Folston?

I may be completely wrong on this but doesn't LaRue have grade issues? I thought it was mentioned as the reason we didn't offer but I could be wrong. Good question though as both would be great additions.

Wow this is a great question ...

I think I agree with Riddickulous that I would take LaRue, but I might have to go back and look at their tapes again. The question hinges for me on what kind of receiver Folston is. Right now I have the impression that LaRue is primarily a small, shifty receiver who could conceivably line up in the backfield, and Folston is the reverse. I think we need the former more than the latter in this class, with three more years of Carlisle coming up, and with the staff already making RB a top priority in 2014. That would allow us to make Hunter, Fuller and Onwualu primarily outside guys, where I think we have a greater need for their playmaking ability and size. Neal and LaRue will be GREAT in the slot.

He does, but he is working on getting updated transcripts together and apparently he has met whatever conditions he was supposed to meet to get a committable offer. Or at least he thinks he has. per Sapp.

This is a bitch of a question.

Possibly my deciding factor: Which can play corner the best?

If he has made the commitment to get that offer I almost hope he ends up here just for that reason. Good for him to show that kind of dedication to his academics. With that said I would agree that we should take Larue over Folston as well but thats only assuming we get bryant otherwise its a no brainer for Folston.

Yes, that bears emphasizing. If we don't get Bryant, I want Folston over LaRue. In that case I think we'll need a RB/Z WR more than a Z WR/RB, if you get what I mean.

I hope Folston's not reading this. He must feel like no matter which way he turns he is everybody's second choice behind Greg Bryant.

Will we see more of a focus on skill position players now that we've built/continue to build depth on the OL and defense?

The funny part is that I missed the news about Bryant yesterday. Just checked the thread and am massively excited.

Back to the topic at hand, I would take LaRue over Folston. Not only do I like him better as a player, we would be taking him away from USC. Two birds with one stone.

2014 is about difference makers. Small class, probably like 17 or so guys give or take, best guys we can get at every position. I think the staff feels like the depth needs have been addressed at every position group except maybe DL and ILB.

While I'd love to pronounce you the winner:

... it seems very unlikely that we take 3 more RB/ Z WRs. I'm assuming that of Bryant, Folston, and LaRue, we'd only take 2/3.

LaRue's composite score is 0.9340, 10th ATH nationally. Folston's is 0.9396, 10th RB nationally.

If potential at CB is the tie-breaker (not a bad idea), I'd give it to LaRue. At 5'11'' 195 lbs, he's a little closer than Folston (5'9'' 185 lbs) to the ideal physical profile for a CB in Diaco's Cover-2 Zone. He also seems to be faster/ more explosive from his film.

Then Larue it is.

...but I really like Folston...

I would take Folston over LaRue. Folston is more versatile, perfect fit for the Theo Riddick role and I am personally not OVERLY impressed with LaRue from what I have seen. But hey, we are stating our own opinion correct. :)

Maybe we can somehow combine their genetics and make one player with a combination of their best qualities: Setarean Folrue.

Sebastarean LaFolston. Get on that, Dr. Moreau.

Stephen Mitchell. :/

Why don't we just peruse SC's current commits and make a shopping list? "Hrm, I'll take Vanderdoes, Ty Isaac, Stephen Mitchell..."

Barton Simmons thinks that LaRue will not end up at USC. LaRue seems to think that SC is edging him out -- quoted in Simmons' article as saying he is not sure if SC is as committed to him as he is to them.

Denbrock is recruiting him really hard. He has an OV scheduled to ND for 1/25, another to TAMU on 1/18 and no OV to SC currently scheduled.
