Agreed. Not saying that it specifically applies to Quon but my personal belief is that no matter how much we win, some kids are just not going to want to go to ND. A major reason being they have to compete in the classroom as well. Winning helps in recruiting(stating the obvious) but that doesn't mean some kids who have never cared about academics since they were 14-15 are going to immediately want to. Which means we will miss out on a lot of studs but like coach kelly has said there are enough kids out there that do and we just have to make sure they come to ND. From previous articles on II and BGI this may pertain to Quon and it may not.

I agree with you to a certain extent but part of my post is a refelction of things that I've read. Sampson on II has been saying since the beginning of his recruitment that academics were an issue. And not that he isn't a smart kid but that it maybe an issue of wanting to.

Ooh fun ...

he just wants to get to the league/he's not interested in academics/his parents want ND but he wants the easy road/he wants ND but his parents want him close to home/he likes being the big fish in a small pond/he doesn't like the big stage/he just wants a free trip/he just wants to put a hat on the table/he was always just holding a spot ...

I would have to assume that the coaches are well aware of his academic record and whether he can get accepted or not before they make an offer?

Sadly, it seems even our coaching staff has to guess at academic eligibility a lot of the time. Tee Shepard was on campus and listed in the directory before the problems with his transcripts became apparent. Deontay Greenberry apparently had similar issues, though just when the staff learned of them, I don't know.

Irish#1, the staff recruits kids that they think fit the culture and the team but that doesn't mean they are already academically able to get in. See Tee's example by Whiskey. Standford does the same thing. What the staff will do is they will recruit a kid offer him and let him know that there are areas academically that they need to work on(classes they need to take etc.) Then its up to the kid to go do that. This isn't inside info this is things that I've read mainly from BGI and II boards. A good example that has nothing to do with ND is Kalambayi who is a Stanford commit, the rumor is that he might not be able to pass admissions. He is currently a commit but that doesn't mean he'll make it through, so he has started taking other visits.

Unfortunately, it isn't the case anymore. The recruiting landscape has change so much that it has to be this way. Offers goes so early that it's hard to predict academically what these guys do...

25%/75% ND on the outs here guys

Thinking we go AQM, Folston, Maxfield, Bryant, Muhammad, Treadwell

That's how I see it in order and by interest

First 3 /4 get in.

Maxfield. Was that by design? Either way, I like it lol

Cannot fault the staff for effort. We're #1 in graduation rate and football, and he'd have at the very least a 4-star QB as his QB for all 4 years here. If that doesn't make him want to be here, then it's better he goes elsewhere. Fingers crossed that the lights come on for Tredwell.

I love what they're doing. Strike while the iron is hot. If you go after a lot of them and end up with a few, it a success.
