Could you imagine if ND played Western Carolina in week 11 how much **** ESPN and others would give them. But Bama plays two tough games back to back and they get a pass even though they've already played Western Kentucky and that always ferocious Florida Atlantic team earlier this year.

For reals. Throw in Oregon's juggernauts Tenn. Tech, Fresno State and Arkansas State. And Colorado...Points per game, here we come!

It doesn't matter. They are in the SEC so they have to be the greatest team ever. Even though the first year a team joins the SEC it knocks off its "greatest" team. This is a big reason I wish you couldn't play in the championship game if you play a FCS team.

Yeah, Russillo was just on ESPN radio trying to make excuses for Alabama. "Other conferences schedule those teams at the beginning of the year, so why is everyone jumping on the SEC."

ESPN never answers the questions about circular logic on their site. They use four teams from the SEC in the BCS top ten when someone questions the methods of acquiring those BCS rankings. It sickens me.

Wtf is going on in the SEC this week?

SCe vs. Wofford
Georgia vs. Georgia Southern
Florida vs. Jacksonville senior center
Auburn vs. Alabama Amputees and Midgets
TAMU vs. Yosemite Sam Houston State

It's essentially a bye week for them, except Auburn will probably lose. What a joke.

SEC is a joke this year. An absolute joke. How the hell do they get so much credit for their incredibly soft schedules and bad teams?

ND would run a train on all but a couple of these teams... and of those teams we wouldn't wreck, only Alabama do I actually think is legitimately "better" than us.

Ridiculous. We're jumping on them because the SEC also schedules those teams at the beginning of the year and now at the end. Go look at their schedules Russillo.

I would maybe throw LSU into that bucket but with that said I think we would be in a game with all of them. Get us into the 4th within a TD and I like our chances this year.

I think that the SEC is a darn fine conference. In my opinion, the Irish schedule is not as top heavy as an SEC schedule is. Our best opponents this year aren't as good as the SEC's top opponents. That's more a function of those good Irish opponents falling off this year. It's not a scheduling problem.

That said, we don't have any "gimmie" wins...unless you count Navy this year. It's tough to win against legit teams week in and week out.

Really want to slap David Pollack in the face for his assertive attitude on the BCS show. Stating that ND would get killed by Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. In my opinion, it was one of the most ridiculous statements iv'e ever heard on cable television. And this afternoon is proving my point...

I think we could beat any of them on any given day. I'd have a hard time picking us against Bama, LSU, and even Florida and South Carolina.

That's why I don't pick games. :)

EDIT: I guess I'd pick us against Florida.

I think the SEC is a good conference too. But the "best teams" the SEC plays are usually other SEC teams. Also, they never play in cold weather and what they do in recruiting is absurd. So the SEC does everything it can to give itself a leg up. They are good but overrated. I don't think they are the best conference from top to bottom.

No doubt they're good. But I was looking at Bama's schedule and I really wasn't that impressed. They played two good teams LSU and TAMU. Only one of those games on the road. They will obviously have another tough game against UGA coming up.

09/01/12 vs. Michigan Arlington, Texas W, 41-14
09/08/12 vs. Western Kentucky Tuscaloosa, Ala. W, 35-0

You're right. They do play other SEC teams. But, they also perform extremely out of conference. Only occasionally can another team seem to match them athletically (OU, Ohio State, USC, etc.).

Who would you say is a better top to bottom conference? I honestly don't think it's very close this year.

even when they were clearly better than they are now they still had more flat lined programs than the other BCS conferences... Also, you get a team like Miss St and UGA every year... Play no one, at all... And get credit because of the conference...

Yeah, and they lost the game at home.

JayHawk makes a great point about ND though. What makes ND's schedule so tough is that you don't have a bye week because each team is legit. Western Carolina is not legit.

I hear ya. On a neutral site I think I would favor Bama and LSU just because our offense would have difficulties moving the ball. They would be 10-7 or 14-10 type of games. I would take us against FLA and SC (without Latimore haha) on a neutral site. I think TAMU would give us some fits because they would be able to put up points and I would be up to our offense to match it.

'Bama handled Michigan. But LSU's non conference schedule is really weak. Last year Boise handled Georgia. Florida plays Fl. St which is a good non conference game, but that's about it. What other SEC teams have played really good out of conference games against good opponents? I forget the article, but there is one floating around that compares the SEC against other conferences and it's not that impressive.

Now, I don't think the SEC is awful. I just think they are overrated. Top to bottom I think the PAC12 might be better. When I say that I don't mean the top PAC12 are better than the top SEC teams. But if you go through team by team, I do think teams that are middle of the road and below are better in the PAC12 than the SEC.

Same point though. Boise only plays 1-2 good teams a year. They wouldn't handle the week in, week out schedule that others play, IMO.

EDIT: That's what we're seeing with Utah now.
