Except they would lose the oil, the military bases, NASA, and a bunch of government jobs. Not to mention their education system wouldn't bode well for a bright future.

The big question is:

Do they get to keep Chuck Norris (Walker, Texas Ranger)?

Listen J/A we're from the same town and I have no idea how you can talk about overweight and education rates in schools. It exists here too.

Indiana isn't a lost cause yet, although our State government isn't helping at all with our Girl Scout-fearing and creationist Senators.

Then I'm sure you're aware of the fact that the right to protest is guaranteed. Sure you might need a permit in some cases and you may be limited in where you may assemble, but you aren't going to jail if all you are doing is peacefully protesting.

Not sure why you're getting so angry with everyone either, or what Google has to do with anything.

did they look violent to you?

Yes, just months ago, all of those Occupy Wall Streeters were thrown in jail from the day they squatted in the park. Oh wait, no they didn't, they were there for months. You could tell by the smell.

Easy Killer... There's nothing wrong with an occasional camping trip to Central Park...

Maybe you should move to Illinois then. Just sayin Read your previous posts and quit talking out of both sides of your mouth.

None of these states would run for 90 days before begging to come back. We should really let Mississippi and some of the other states leave too. They bring down our education rate, raise our obesity rates, and waste money. Let them establish some theocracy and ban evolution.

lolol

Obesity is Mississippi's fault?

Yeahhhh okay. I could be a myriad of personal/cultural choices or that the federal government a) created an automobile-based society, b) created an environment for corn syrup to be in everything via corn subsidies, 3) puts tariffs on sugar as to eliminate competition for corn syrup..

Or Mississippi being crazy. Hmmmm....

And do you remember the national outcry about this? And the campus police officer was fired. The rule doesn't cease to exist because one jackass went off the reservation.
As 1/4 American Indian I find this offensive. Someone owes me something?

Buster hit them with some truth and they scatter like roaches

I'll step in for them.

Buster, the original poster did not say that our nation's obesity problems are the fault of the south. They said that it is more prevalent in the South, and in turn, bring down our national average. Which, according to the info you provided, is absolutely true.

It is also true that the south has more people on welfare and have poor public education.

Mississippi is still one of, if not the fattest, least educated, and tax-wasting state in the nation. Maybe they should try to make it on their own if it's all the federal government's fault. It would be fun to watch. They could even outlaw the interracial marriage they hate so much.

This kind of stuff happens a lot more than just on youtube.

It happened on a campus.

I have no data (neither do you, so far) about how frequently there is a First Amendment violation related to peaceful protest that is carried out full accordance with the law (which if memory serves the UC Davis protest wasn't) but I will suggest that the only reason you think it happens so often is because when it happens it is such a shock to the normal flow of our political culture that it gets talked about. Assembly happens everyday but it isn't noteworthy in the way that a civil rights violation is because, well, because it isn't noteworthy; it's par for the course. It's just what we do. Not suggesting sh*tty stuff doesn't go on, but I am suggesting that I think you are way off if you think your right to protest is in danger or doesn't exist.
