Did anyone just hear Todd Blackledge on the MSU LSU game say that he's "pretty sure" Bama will drop out of the top two! WTF???????????

I don't get what is wrong with that statement. They probably will drop out, but what if two of the undefeated teams lost today as well?

I don't see that happening because I know we will roll, but I don't have a problem with an SEC homer saying something that is actually accurate.

If Notre Dame wins out Bama watches from home... Make no mistake our Irish are the firewall...

As if a title run wasn't enough for my nerves, I hate Bama so much them NOT winning is a close second to Notre Dame winning...

Here is my thing...I wanted nd to play and beat Alabama in the championship game. I am excited that it makes it that much easier for us though. One more top 3 loss and we are in! Now keep up the winning Irish!

I just don't understand how anyone who studies college football and watches it yearly could look at KSU and ND's respected resumes and pick KSU over ND.... I know i'm Bias because im a life long ND fan, but its a joke. I'm sorry. No way no how. We should be ahead of KSU. Will it happen probably not sadly.

This isn't a troll tweet, but here goes: If you compare the Notre Dame resume vs. K-State resume and pick K-State, you're nuts.

here's my take:

bama goes down
k st not super impressive today in their win against tcu
oregon losing 3 starters in first half

no reason for anyone to say we are so far behind any of these teams now...i'll play k state tomorrow

I agree, which is why, coming off all the press from last week's 3 OT game, we needed to win by more tonight. We need to be more dominant to give voters a reason to rank us ahead of KSU or Oregon.

I agree. Things will fall into place as fate wants it too. I would play Oregon or KSU tomorrow and expect to win.

This is totally true.

Out of the 3 remaining undefeated teams, I'm pretty confident one of us lose. ND @ USC, Texas @ K ST, Ore Vs Stanford: Ore @ Ore St: Ore vs USC/UCLA, as long as we dont get jumped, we are in a great spot.

I don't think that the voters would have voted us ahead anyone, even if we outscored BC by 100.

If we'd gone out tonight and put up the 40 or 50 points many of us were predicting we'd have a legit claim at #1

I don't disagree. But try looking at it this way: if you start focusing on style, and you end up losing the game, then none of it matters. You have to win the game, first and foremost.

Where do the "sec" votes go?

AL will STILL get some #1 votes, I bet.

But they will be split evenly between Oregon and KSU, unfortunately. We needed to shutout BC, at least. But since we didn't I hope we torch Wake at home just to silence some of the skeptics about our struggles at home. And so I don't have a heart attack before the USC game.

IF USC beat UCLA, they will be sufficiently pumped for the chance at a rematch with Oregon and upsetting us at the Stadium. Need to start a new tradition of beating USC at home again like we did under Gerry and Lou.

No way. Not over 3 other undefeated teams.

The SEC bias is strong. But I hope not. I just expect the voters to give the SEC benefit of the doubt every time.

Cal is moving the ball against Oregon. Against the Ducks lack of defense is going to catch up with them...eventually. Probably not tonight, but you never know.

GO BEARS!!!!

Cal is out-physicaling Oregon right now and it's cool to watch.

Yes it is. I just hope they can keep it up for the rest of the game. Oregon is not made for smashmouth football, but I don't expect Cal to keep up with them for four quarters. I certainly would love it if they did, though, that is for sure!!

"Style points" is the term that's obviously commonly used to talk about margin of victory. The term I prefer is how "dominant" your team is. When you're down to three undefeated teams and there's only two spots in the big game, "dominant" becomes a very relative concept amongst these three teams. And unfortunately for ND, we're starting out #3, not #2 or #1. We all knew going into these three games that our SOS schedule was going to take a hit, so how do you compensate? By dominating teams that are perceived to be lesser in quality. Clearly we did not dominate last week, and I believe that we could have been more aggressive tonight in our second half play calling while still keeping with the flow of the game. Nothing wreckless or off script. But also not ultra-conservative. When you don't, and you're starting out #3, you relegate yourself to needing one more team to lose. Again, I'm not advocating anything foolish - just a little more aggressiveness in play calling.

Totally agree. The game was just too button-up. It was not like they were playing the role of the Giants against the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl.
