Composite scores for RBs who we may end up signing in February:

  • Ryan Green - 0.9679
  • Ezekiel Elliot - 0.9506
  • Tarean Folston - 0.9394
  • Corey Clement - 0.9128
  • Jamel James - 0.8916
  • Khalfani Muhammad - 0.8838

Assuming all current commits stick, we're already at 8/8 for RB/ Z WR. If Wood comes back (still unlikely, but looking more probable than before), we'll be at 9/8. I don't see the point in taking another RB unless it's truly a can't miss prospect.

Unless its Ryan green with a Christmas miracle I don't want to take another RB

All I want for Christmas is an Official Red Ryder Carbine Action 200 shot Range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.

Corey just did an interview on Comcast Sportsnet Philly and I have to say he seemed fairly levelheaded and not at all like he comes off on Twitter. He just set a new rushing record, I missed what it was, state, league, school, but that's not the point. He actually thanked his offensive line and said most of the credit needs to go to them. I was impressed with the humility and how well he spoke. I think I want this kid now, he just impressed me and did seem like a RKG.

Good luck CC and hopefully you'll be in a gold helmet next fall.

I think if Folson does not commit, Clements will have his commitment to ND accepted.

Yeah. He seems like a Montee Ball clone. A good fit up there. And yeah, I do think ND is missing on one here, but there are other recruits in the sea. If we stay on him, and don't fill up by NSD, I could see him taking the bait.

I hope folston is every bit as good as the staff thinks, because Cory is going to be awesome!

Ouch!

When we can turn down the Cory Clements of the football world I would say we have arrived. Or the staff loves to gamble with recruiting chips.

Or we took a lot of kids early in the cycle at positions of increased need not knowing how our season was going to unfold.

Maybe I am misinterpreting you, but I really like the potential of every single one of our commits. It is easy to see for each one the defined role the staff would likely implement for them, and how they could be successful in the program and for the program.

Misinterpreting. I really like this class as well. I'm saying that if we took Clement, and James, and Folston, etc, etc just because they are higher rated by one service or another than another one of our recruits, we wouldn't get the solid kids that fill a greater spot of need like Mattingly, Robinson or Onwualu. Those latter 3 are more important to this team than a 2nd or 3rd RB at this point.

There are a few kids in this class which I feel like we should have waited on to take commitments from but No one had any idea that ND would do this good this year.so you had to take them.

Usually I can name a couple in each class, but I can't this year. Disagree with you here.

Only one I personally would have waited on is Will Fuller, but even he can be a valuable player because of his versatility.

There is a reason he is skyrocketing in the rankings. He has unbelievable hands and instincts, to go along with his versatility and underrated athleticism. I really like the Fuller pickup.

Yup. Especially with Toma almost gone and Theo staying in at RB, we need the depth at Z. And, I'm pretty sure Butler said that Fuller was the most difficult player to cover that he has ever gone against. That's saying something.

Staff likes there chances with folston and like folston more. Simple as that, Cory will be a great one but he is walking into a perfect situation for him with white and Ball leaving soon. Plus Wisconsin offense is perfect for a back like him. I don't see much difference between him and James so no sense in taking same player. Folston ability to play the slot is what separates him and lots of positive buzz around his visit so far.

Thanks for that update on Folston's visit. It's good to know there was something positive out of Folston. Up until now everything seemed so blah with his recruiting.

Best of luck to a kid that I would have loved to have seen in blue and gold. Shame we don't have room for him.

Seems like a great kid and one heck of a running back. Good luck Corey, run all over the Big Ten.
