I have been saying 9-3.

My new prediction is 11-1. I think we find a way to beat either USC or Oklahoma and take care of business against the other 4

Like the Irish, I'm 6-0 through six games with my prediction. Staying with 10-2, although it isn't lost on me that, in the eyes of others, my prediction has gone from very optimistic to somewhat pessimistic over the course of the season.

I like the 6-0, one game at a time approach. Don't get me wrong it's fun to speculate but I'm more just enjoying the ride. I take a lot of relief in the fact that we are already bowl eligible and have beaten 3 ranked teams already! The great thing to add to that is that this team has exceeded all my expectations already through half of a season! It's incredible but the Kelly plan works! I mean it really really works! He is doing this at Notre Dame for Pete's sake! Tremendous coach! So yeah 13-0 NC's haha! J/k (I hope that's right though:) )

I am not drinking the cool aid but at the start of the season I decided I was making no predictions after getting excited in previous seasons after a game or two. I am just hoping BK can keep the focus on each game rather than stars in everyone's eyes. If that happens if could be a very good season.

I think Hollywood has been saying this for awhile but it's so important that we get to play USC last. They will hopefully have some players out due to injury. No depth

No doubt, and especially after we play a few "easier" games to prep and fine tune the offense for them.

I'd been in the 8-4 wagon, so I guess the time is nigh to make a change. Moving up to 10-2.

I just can't completely shake the pessimism of the last decade, however. Think we'll drop one of the big 2 games, and one we shouldn't down the stretch. If we're 8-0 after OU, then we could very well go 12-0, though...

^ Everything he said... My prediction was also 8-4...the boys won 2 of those games I had penned in for losses...10-2...if they can take down the Sooners...12-0.

I will also say that I will not be on the championship kick until after OU. If we beat them I will believe that this year we are the real deal. Right now I just hope we play well against BYU.

I won't be quick to accept the hype. I remember willinghams first season.

12-0. We find a way to take down Oklahoma and BYU. Our offense (Golson) gets into stride against Pitt, BC, and Wake leading us to roll into LA a complete team that punches SC in the mouth leaving little Barkley crying with his head on Kiffins lap

i think we narrowly lose to Oklahoma, then win out as our offense gains momentum. the month long break before the bowl game will help us grow the offense as well, so BCS win. Next season come in ranked top 5 and have a disappointing (i.e. non-NC) season.

I'll say we lose to USC and Oklahoma, take care of business against our weaker opponents, and win a BCS bowl game to finish 11-2.

11-1... depends on who we play in the BCS bowl... I think we can hang with just about every team in the country... The one team that would probably beat ND fairly easy is Oregon. Our defense will do better than what others have against them, but ND cannot shut Oregon down, and Oregon has a decent defense themselves, Golson would have to be lights out (Miami game) in order to hang with them.

Well I came in aiming for a 8-4 season. It's unreal how anything less than 10-2 would be a disappointment now.

Oregons defense is not that great. They let Arkansas St run 34 up on them.

Looking at NCAA statistics we note the following:

Rushing D:

ND 25 113ypg
Oregon 37 126ypg

Passing D:

ND 14 173ypg
Oregon 70 233ypg

Total D:

ND 11 with 287ypg
Oregon 43 359ypg

The all important stat, yardage aside.

Scoring D:

ND 2 8.67 ppg
Oregon 31 20ppg

We'll see this weekend who can hold who. But I expect it to be the first college football game to exceed 2000 yards gained.

The road to the Pac12 championship goes through Corvalis, strangely enough. Oregon to win out has to beat ASU, USC, Stanford and OSU. They are on the road for 3 of those games. Then they have to beat the Pac12 South Champion, which as it stands now, would be ASU again.

Our road goes through Norman and Pasadena. Oklahoma and USC both are beatable. With this defense my only concern is the O getting going. If Tommy starts the rest of the way you'll get a 2000 Baltimore Ravens scenario. Average QB that can manage the clock, and defense that wins any game they are in.

Good post. I agree. Oregon hasn't played some of the talent we have. If we played Arkansas state it would be close to triple digits on points. Against Oregon we would eat the clock with our run that they couldn't stop. That would be a game for Tommy. Plays across the middle to Tyler just to keep them honest then run it down their throat. Near SEC style game.
