We should create a poll for this, imo. If no one does this, I'll put one together when I get back from class.

I can't stand Mizzou either, but they're like BC. Who gives a ****? My dream matchups involve teams that matter. Bring on 'Bama and OSU.

I don't recall ND playing Florida off the top of my head. That would be awesome. Oregon would be exciting (Kelly Bowl). It has been a long while since ND played "Bama and they are as good as it gets, so that would be great.

Most all of the matchups mentioned would be exciting.

Notre Dame Alabama would be great for college football

Notre Dame and Alabama had a home and home under contract for '05-'06 or '06-'07 until Alabama lost 21 scholarships in '02 under NCAA sanctions for buying Albert Means. Bama AD Mal Moore promptly called ND to beg out of the contract citing an undermanned team. ND let them out with no cancellation penalty.

I'd be willing to play Alabama after the last of their 30+ Oversigning Classes are gone. If they didn't want to play undermanned because they got caught cheating why should ND play them now that they have an unfair manpower advantage.

After the '92 Sugar Bowl UF coach Steve Spurrier was asked by the media about playing Notre Dame during the season. He mumbled about full schedules, SEC rules, and it not being possible. It was quite possible as ND had a home & home under contract with Vanderbilt in '96-'97 and would play Tennessee in a home and home a couple of years after that. Spurrier had just had his butt whipped after a couple of weeks of trash talking. He wanted no part of ND in the future.

In another thread a few days ago I documented UF's disdain for traveling outside the South for over 60 years. They rarely leave Gainsville, play Georgia in Jacksonville, and play in Tallahassee and Miami. Kentucky is a long trip for them.

This year UF has to go to Texas, a little over 900 mile, half the distance to Palo Alto or L.A. UF won't schedule ND because they won't go to South Bend. Too far, too much risk, and they'd have to give up one of their cannon fodder buy games in the Swamp.

About a dozen years ago, a reporter for the Atlanta Journal Constitution wrote an article promoting a home & home between UGA and ND. He had just come from Athens where the Dawgs had beat up on a hapless Arkansas St by about 50 points. The reporter commented about a lot of empty seats in the stadium despite nice weather. He noted this was typical in Athens for "buy" games as a lot of sports fans have no interest in lopsided wins over undermanned opponents. As a result there are a lot of empty seats which result in $$$$ lost. He gave a breakdown of lost revenue from lower attendance through parking, concessions, merchandise, etc plus the "buy" fee.

He argued that UGA would fill the stadium and get national exposure by playing - Notre Dame. National TV, ESPN Gamday, recruiting exposure. It would invigorate jaded UGA fans and give them a worthwhile opponent. He even noted that with Holtz gone The Irish were beatable.

For the resulting explosion in the media you'd have thought he nominated Abraham Lincoln for Governor. Or that Baptists and Presbyterians should follow the Pope.

Coach Jim Donnan wanted to hang him. UGA's AD was more tactful and pointed out the competitive nature of the SEC and "Southern" Footbaw. TV and radio talk shows slammed the reporter.

Mark Richt is a much better coach than Donnan but I wouldn't expect a change in their position.

USC - only played them once in the last decade. Used to be one of the greatest rivalries in sports,it would be nice to bring that game back

Thank you i have nothing but hate for the tigers. I would love nothing more than to beat the **** out of them so there fair weather fans would shut the **** up. Around here they were preseason SEC east champions. And now it is all the sudden basketball season.

But as far as upcoming games for the recruiting side of things.

My Top 5 Teams I Want To Play111

My Top 5 Teams I Want To Play111

1. Ohio State!!! I live in Columbus and hate Ohio State with a burning passion and would love to see them get destroyed by The Iris. I would like to see them play OSU in like the Shamrock series at Cleveland Stadium.
2.Alabama!! In the past these two teams have had historic games with The Irish coming out on top. The battle of 2 of College Footballs greatest teams.
3.Nebraska! My favorite team in the BIG is Nebraska and I would love to see a throwback game between these two teams because they are both sponsored by Adidas. Because Nebraska was going to be our big rival until Rockne's wife suggested USC to the legendary coach.
4. Oregon, I think this would be a great matchup and one we could win.
5. Penn State! I have so much respect for what Coach O'Brien has done this season so far and I want to see us play them more because the rivalry was great until they joined the BIG.

Ohio State U. If for no other reason than...Whenever I go to Eddie George Grill on High St. there a freaking huge sign with Eddie George leaving some ND players in the dust. Another home and home is much needed.
