I expect 30+ pass attempts in this one. We won't come close to the production on the ground that we enjoyed Saturday.

I agree. The Irish haven't had to play shoot-out football yet this season. Even though I expect our D to handle Stanford I'd be very surprised if they kept Trees out of the end zone all game. The Irish offense better come prepared to point up points, especially through the air.

The good thing about this thread is Stanford has no fans, so there should be no trolls this week. If are were trolls, they would be very smart and coherent.

I think the strength of Stanford's defense is their linebackers. I could see us going with jumbo sets or using Theo as a receiver (with Cierre in the backfield) to try and create advantages.

I think this is a game where you need to have Cierre and Theo or Cierre and GAIII or Theo and GAIII on the field most of the game. I like Cierre in the backfield and GAIII and Theo moving from out of the backfield and/or lining up in the slot. I want those two guys in space. I am one hundred percent sure Theo can make the first guy miss and get three to five extra yards nearly every time. I am also one hundred percent sure GAIII can take the ball to the house every time he gets it in space.

Theo's and GAIII's abilities can allow this offense to neutralize the pass rush and run blitzes by Stanford strong front seven. If I'm Shaw I don't want Theo and GAIII to get the ball with only one or two DBs in space to prevent a big play.

Those vanilla stats are interesting to compare, but anything that's not opponent-adjusted is usually misleading.

Brian Fremeau's FEI has been one of the most accurate models for predicting CFB this season. It currently ranks the Irish at 3rd overall, with the 34th offense and the 5th defense. Stanford is 26th overall, with the 57th offense and the 34th defense.

The Cardinal obviously shouldn't be taken lightly, but many here are overestimating them. The Vegas line is justified. Unless ND comes out flat, we should win comfortably.

If Stanford cannot establish a great running game it is going to be a long day for them with our defense.

This is exactly how I feel.

I don't think we'll shut them down.

But then again I didn't think we'd shut MSU down either.

I take Bell over Taylor any day of the week. Personally.

So great point.

I really did not. I'm glad as hell we did, though. I thought ND would win but I expected a closer game. But I am certainly not complaining about blowing out the Convicts and I'll be thrilled if we smash the Tree by 5 TDs.

Take her to Bleachers for karaoke night. That should seal the deal.

Or just get her eye dotted by Tommy's sister at the Linebacker.

Then later, you may add a schtick to line her "eye."

Nunes is 22-47 on 3rd downs and only 12 of those completons went for 1st downs. and our d is great on 3rd down... so gettig stanford in long 3rd down sitations gives a us a huge chnace.. not amazing 3rd down defense but good enough and i like our chances

Key to this game is to not get into 3rd and long vs this defense they will bring the house every third down. I expect to see alot of short routes wr screens and zone reads to keep this defense honest. The front lineman are probably third best, but this will be the best linebacker group we face this regular season. If we get them in space we will win this game comfortably 14 to 17 points

ND opened at -10. Been fluctuating between 8.5 to 10 and is currently at -9. Gotta stay on the train. ND 4-1 ATS this season. Seems Vegas is believing.

Their trolls probably wouldn't post, "If are ... ".

SU fans are the only ones on the internet that quote SAT's, GPA's, and GSR's more than ND fans.

I think the key to the game is Everett Golson's ability to neutralize Stanford's defensive speed rushing the passer, and how well our TE's block their linebackers.

Chase Thomas (#44) is very difficult to block and they do all kinds of things to disguise him and match him up with blockers who he can beat when rushing the passer. We could not block him last year either running or passing.

If Niklas/Koyack/Eifert/can neutralize Thomas in the run game, and if Golson can elude Thomas when he does beat our offensive linemen, we should win.
