NC loss or Fiesta bowl win?

ND needs a BCS bowl win, I'd take a Fiesta Bowl win just to get the monkey off our back.

I'll take win a Fiesta Bowl over losing in the NC. I don't think I could ever pick a loss and turn it into a positive. Not hating on those that can but I'll take a win in the Fiesta Bowl plus positive momentum heading into the offseason/recruiting season.

I see the close NC loss gang but disagree.

I have a better question. Would you rather go 10-2 and beat USC or 11-1 with the only loss to USC?

I can't stand all this let's focus on Miami bullshit. If you want to focus on Miami then stay out of this thread. It's a ****ing hypothetical question on a message board. Get over yourselves, internet coaches.

Everyone on here is guilty of predicting our defenses dominance over future opponents but god forbid someone posts a BCS bowl or NC situational question. How many people have filled up our future opponents' threads with predictions? What the hell are you so worried about?

Id take the Fiesta bowl win. End the season on a high note. Would be a tougher decision if you told me we lose a nail biter in the NC though.

AMEN BROTHER
We control nothing. What we say has no, I repeat NO bearing on the team's performance.

Oh hell, why not. 10-2 with losses to Michigan & USC or 7-5 but we beat both?

Oh that is something completely different. I am asking would you be OK going 11-1 knowing USC cost you a potential NC or 10-2 and beat your bitter rival?

To your question, I would rather be a BCS team then continue the mediocrity of the last decade.

You're making it sounds like the Rose/Fiesta/Orange/Sugar bowl is comparable to the Meineke Car Care bowl. BCS games are a bigger deal than you're giving them credit for. I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I'd rather me, ND players/fans, recruits, etc, look at ND and see us as a team that finally showed they can compete at a BCS level and maybe even wonder 'could we have won it all?' rather than 'we're close, but the 42-10 loss in the NC game shows we're not there yet'. I think that winning the lower-tier BCS game leaves the program in a more positive position than being blown out in the NC game. Agree to disagree.

In my opinion, it means that we are there. We played in the title game. It means that we were indeed good enough to compete for a championship. A BCS game does nothing but say that you belong in the top 10 somewhere. Do you think teams like scUM and VT "could have won it all"? I doubt it. That is the difference between "BCS caliber" and "National Title Contender". I care about championships, not BCS props.

While you may think that I am undervaluing BCS games, I think that you are overvaluing them. There is only one game that decides who is the best and who is second, and that is the National Title Game.

Ill take the fiesta bowl win. While it would show the program has gone forward by playing in the NC itd be a deep cut still to go that far and lose and have that loss on that big stage to think about for months until the next season where you can only hope to somehow make that game again. A fiesta bowl win while not as big of a game would mean that we prolly beat the big 12 champs or 2nd place team, or the snd place team in the sec or big 10 giving us still some very good validation and the biggest postseason victory since 93 to think about all offseason.

As far as 11-1 with only one loss to usc or 10-2 and beat usc. Ill take the win over USC I hate them, I have no respect for them and every USC fan ive ever met in my life is a douchebag so i can handle 2 losses as long as we beat them and as some icing on the cake this year ruin matt barkley's senior night.

Would rather always lose to the best team in the country in the biggest and last game of the season than win a game everyone forgets about when the NCG kicks off.

A team can be beyond self motivating when they get close to the one and only goal and fail.

This video makes me want to win this game by 80... I hope we run the score up on them.

Uhhhhh.... lets ignore all of the obvious blunders about this guy.... I am just curious how in the hell does he know what "little boys bleeding *******s" smell like? This man needs to get his cranium cracked with a shillelagh...

I'm focusing on Miami...but if we're talking hypotheticals I would take the Fiesta win. On the other hand, if it was a Fiesta win against a close NC loss...I might take the NC game. It would have to be really close though, like final seconds close so I wouldn't have to hear opposing fans talk about Notre Dame being overrated and getting spanked.

Honestly Rudy89, our bromance will only be short-lived..... I cannot stay away from HCTI's mullet for too long.... and he knows that

Gay guys riding... Bulls?

Somehow, in the back of my mind, I knew someone was going to come in and post something ridiculous and ruin the fun and good times some Irish fans were having.

Some people have it in them to just be a dick.... why do people just want to be a dick all the time and post stuff like "Gay guys riding bulls?"

Sorry Wooly, I thought it was funny too.....

Here is why the "internet coaches" might be saying that it is foolish to start fantasizing about end of the year scenarios after 4 games: the guys who do that are also the guys who have unrealistic expectations for the team. Most bandwagon jumpers are also the guys who start fantasizing about six games down the road. These are the guys who want the coach fired as soon as the team loses a game. I might be tempted to worry about those down the road games if I had tickets and flights booked, but I think focusing on the team's next game helps one keep things in perspective.

At the same time, no one inferred that we were going to go undefeated or go to the BCS. The question was to simply ask what would you rather have. It is as relevant as a question to ask when 4-0 as it would be if we were 0-4. It's a hypothetical.

Nothing we do as fans will contribute on whether we beat Miami or not. So acting like we need to "focus on Miami" is pretty silly. No amount of worrying about Miami will impact whether or not we go to the BCS or a NC game. So both are quite silly to worry about. How does hypothetical thoughts on what people think are more important endings to our season effect the ultimate outcome of our season?

Again... let your hair down sisters...

No big scoop here, but I know someone on the Sugar Bowl Committee, they had a meeting tonight...suffice it to say they are drooling over the prospects of us not quite making it to the NC game and potentially playing the #2 SEC team. It would not hurt them if we lost one or two and fell into their laps.
