And, I'm not a huge RUSH fan, but keeping them and Styx out of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is dumb. (As opposed to Run DMC...???)
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Queen
The Who
Aerosmith
(Leaving out The Clash or the Rolling Stones is tough)
Surprised to see the Eagles mentioned this many times. Just the mention of that band makes me thank the good Lord for child safety locks. My parents played a lot of them on road trips. Without the safety locks I would have pulled a tuck and roll on an interestate highway in my younger years.
Not sure if this is first one is "classic rock", but:
Bruce Springsteen and the East Street Band
Zeppelin
Cream
Stones
Journey
If Pearl Jam had been around before '92 they would have made my list.
Not in order:
The Kinks
The Who
The Stones
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
David Bowie
Classic punk:
Ramones
The Clash
Sex Pistols
Iggy Pop
Guys, the Beatles are number 1 and it isnt even close. They were the big bang in the rock/pop universe. They had to stop touring mid way through their career. ecause their concerts were turning into riot zones, controversial groups would go to them to advance their cause and assasination threats were the norm. They were really too big to exist by the time 1970 rolled around and finally collapsed under their own weight. 12 studio albums. 13 if you count Yesterday And Today. 2 or 3 albums worth of singles that were not on any albums, 20 number 1 hits and the top 5 at once. There own songs kept others from being number 1. By the time they were 29 they accomished this. John Lennon by himself was bigger and better than some of these bands mentioned. Paul McCartney as well. They were ridiculous.
There will NEVER be another Beatles.

The Beatles stopped touring because they could not perform their music live anymore. Yes The Beatles were a great group and if asked who is the greatest group in modern music I would say The Beatles. The OP asked who is the greatest ROCK band of all time, and that is a different animal. When it comes to just flat out rock bands, The Beatles are not #1.
I understand the Beatles to be part of the classic rock genre. Now if we are talking Hard rock/acid rock then it's Led zepellin. And again, it isnt even close![]()
The Beatles are NOT a classic rock band in my opinion. They lived more on the edge of Pop.
Beatles = Most over-rated band ever. Worse than Elvis Presley and Micheal Jackson.
What.......do you want a cookie?![]()
Blasphemy. There's no way you ever gave them a thorough listening and came to that conclusion. They are by far the greatest band of all time. They set the bar for everyone else.
Thats really funny. Thanks for the laugh. Definitely Classic Rock.
The Chris Rock reference went right over my head. Now I get it lol

This is the worst opinion ever. The Beatles operated on another level, so yeah, their sound is a bit different than the Stones or Zeppelin. But I don't know how anyone can question their talent. If anything, they're underrated. Their music will be taught in school a hundred years from now along with Beethoven and the other great composers. If the White Album came out tomorrow and nobody had ever heard of the Beatles, it would be a number one album. Their music is timeless (at least everything from Rubber Soul on). Compare that to Elvis, whose music hasn't held up at all. Elvis sucks.
