I don't disagree about the effect on SoS, but I think beating an undefeated team top-10 team would have been beneficial, as opposed to beating an exposed mediocre team.

Obviously. But they're a dangerous recruiting rival. When it comes to Michigan, USC and Stanford, we want the losses to pile up. Recruiting > SoS.

I'm feeling MSU v. ND part II. Golson produces enough big plays to put us ahead, and our defense rides that lead into a comfortable win.

A bit off topic. But anybody have any insight on why Stanford is making so little progress on 2013 recruiting? They have 6 guys (5 wo Issac S). I thought the win against USC would get them on track, but they just took away any momentum that might have gained.

On another note it might not help them this year but hopefully U Dub continues to play well and steal some kids from SC down here

I believe they have a pretty young overall roster so this might be a smaller class for them anyways.

They are in the same recruiting niche as ND, they just didn't seem to tear it up on the recruiting trail all summer like ND did which really puts pressure on them to perform during the season to get recruits more excited about their school. They, like ND, still have to find quality athletes that can compete in the class room as well as on the football field. Oh and ND taking one on of their commits away in Randolph didn't help their class. :)

There is obviously a conspiracy to kill our strength of schedule.

Wow may make me reconsider this game. Sarks good for one of these a year and Stanford looked terrible on offense. Their d is good but Wash was really bad in the first half with their o line. Thurs night games prove awkward and Wash played it like a bowl game. If Stanford plays like that we beat 'em.

I guess it's still early. But even if they are taking 18-19 kids, seems like I would be getting a bit nervous if I were them.
They had a great recruiting class in 2012. I would really like this and their winning ways to trend back down! There are going to be certain kids that look for a top flight education and great football. If Stanford is playing top 20 ball consistently, it's a tough competition, particularly when you add in weather.

Got to give Ty Montgomery an assist for that win but Stanford looks completely inept in the passing game. Was Trouffant on Washington when they played ND?

"Most notably, Wilcox regularly had eight or nine defenders near the line of scrimmage, daring Nunes to beat them through the air." From the recap. Sounds like a familiar plan haha and they didn't even have Tuitt, Nix, etc.

Miami is first lads.

We're really going to have to bring the heat offensively to beat those guys and their silly athleticism.

I'm back to being confident that the Irish beat the Tree. Funny, ND could wind up being ranked higher come Sunday then any team remaining on the schedule. Without even playing this week.

Hurts our chances at getting Gameday in South Bend on the 13th. Be interesting to see how far Stanford drops.

Yes, I remember him as a freshman. Also, holy Kasen. Can you imagine if he picked ND?

Don't hold your breath. It's ND, so that's about like them playing against U$C ... they'll be pumped and play to the top of their ability that game!

Agreed. We should NEVER sleep on a Miami team, no matter how bad they looked vs. previous competition. They always have insane athleticism, and they will be hyped for this game.

I know Tommy has come in and played great as a back-up/reliever, but I don't buy the 'if it's not broke don't fix it' for this Stanford game. This is type of teams he plays terrible against. I can already see him running backwards, chucking up a duck over the middle of the field while being pursued by 2 of Stanford's lineman. I really think the Tommy we know will be exposed by this Stanford front 7. IDK how you guys feel about it, but I hope Kelly sticks with Golson for this one.

BTW, I saw that Stanford only had ~230 total yards. Yikes.

i still remember how charlie was really high on kasen williams (the UW WR)...good for this kid he could have went anywhere...stayed home...signed on to a lousy UW program...and had a great moment on a nationally televised game in his home stadium.
we need sark to dilute the USC, Stanford west cost recruting
i agree with rhode isrish for a lot of reasons i wanted ND to be the ones dropping the first L on the stanford team oh well as long as we win thats all that matters

He returned a backwards pass for a touchdown when Clausen threw the ball 100 feet over Allen's head on a swing pass.

Had some nice pass breakups too.

On a side note, that swing pass was about 1 of 5 total mistakes JC made that whole year.

we are not the team, we can look ahead all we want without it effecting the Miami game. :rockwoot:
