Getting more and more worried about this game as each day passes. MSU got pushed around last year and they have made it very clear that it won't happen again (and I believe that).

I feel we are going to come out flat, fall behind and not have the confidence yet on offense to come back.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong.

Last years game was probably the worst loss of Dantonio's career, people are underestimating how badly MSU want's to kick our asses this year.

we will have to see the gameplan ND comes out with especially on O. they need an aggressive gameplan running to the outside which they lacked against Purdue. We'll see what they do and also how good MSU's dtackles are compared to Purdue's.

Kelly talked about that in his interview with Jack Nolan. The guys will be reminded.

The ND-MSU series has been so good the last couple of years, I doubt that either team wanting to kick the other will make that much of a difference.

This game will have the biggest impact on how the rest of the season goes. If we can steal this game and Michigan I'd be ecstatic. I think we split them though. JUST KEEP CHUGGING THE KOOL AID BOYS.

I'd settle for a split. I'd much rather beat Michigan in that scenario though, for obvious reasons.

Never realised how good of a game Blanton had last year. Hopefully our young corners can combine to make as many plays as he did.

It might sound too simple, but the team that wins the rushing battle when these two rivals square-off has come away victorious in nine of their last 10 head to head meetings. The only blip on that mark came in 2006 when Notre Dame won 40-37 in East Lansing despite being demolished 248-47 in net rushing yards

...

The key to the Notre Dame – Michigan State game is simple – the team that runs the ball better will walk out of Spartan Stadium Saturday night with a win and a 3-0 record.

It seems everyone covering this game has yet to mention this so called elite RB ....bell is going against one of the most stout D lines in the country and THE best line backer in the country. I watch how disciplined our d line plays and I see it very difficult for the msu line to get a block on our linebackers. I have a strong feeling this is going to be Manti Teo's signature game. If we continue to take care of the football we win. Go Irish!

I understand this point that a lot of others have also brought up. But just because we stomped on them last year doesnt make them a better team, especially with the inexpereince at QB. I never bought into that, or "bulletin board" material it doesnt make anyone better. I think this will be a close hard fought game. Yes MSU has a beast at RB but theyve yet to face a front 7 that ND has. Tuitt already has been unblockable and if he and the rest of the line can continue with the penetration theyve been getting. We WILL have just upset a Top 10 on National TV.

I understand Bell is a good running back, but I watch a ton of ESPN and I have heard very little about him until this week. Seems to me that ESPN is hyping him a little bit more because they hate ND. And remember, we are getting our 1100 yard rusher back that we had last year. How come ESPN isnt making that their storyline?

I was busy the first two weeks this year (bad planning on my part) and wasn't able to watch the games. We are now 2-0 with me not watching live...

What is a fan supposed to do?

This is worth remembering. What a game!

Thanks for making me throw up a bit in my mouth :)

Thankfully....if Bell is averaging 9 ypc like Caulcrick was in that game I know for SURE we won't start throwing the ball 40 consecutive times (in a monsoon).

Just confirmed my tickets to the game.....so pumped!

Last Second Spike

Last Second Spike

The 10-second clock run-off would not apply to the end of the Purdue game because the clock was stopped. It was also 4th down. The spike with 11 seconds left was a mistake. ND should have run the clock down to 4 seconds to avoid the kickoff and last second long pass. In the end it did not cost it us, but no reason to be at any risk.

Because if the offense commits a penalty in the last minute, it's an automatic 10 second run off. So if we line up to kick a field goal with 3/4 seconds and we happen to commit a penalty as was the trend of the game, they run off and we have to go to overtime. It was a genius coaching decision by Kelly to have him spike it with 11 seconds left. Probably told him to snap it with 13 seconds left.

I had a terrible dream last night in which Kyle Brindza was our starting kicker for some reason and he missed a 30 yd field from the middle of the field on the opening drive. And leading up to that, Golson kept getting flushed out of the pocket by Mich St's D line. Every time Golson scrambled, he had an extra football in his hands for some reason. By 3rd down, he had 3 footballs and a basketball that he struggled to keep a hold of while running. Yeah it was a strange dream.

So what you're telling me is that ND will win by a last second free throw?

I offset your dream with a dream i had, in which ND ran the table and won the nat'l champ. Instead of cheering at the end, all the ND fans just stood there looking around with their jaws agape and trying to figure out if they were dreaming.
