I think if Treadwell wanted to join we would take him no matter what. I think if Hunter commits the ship on Devon Allen will sail.

I hope not. ND needs more speed. They can't just sit and rely on Neal and Brown to be the only ones who can stretch the field. They should take Hunter and Allen for sure if they can and if Treadwell wants in they you take him too. Not enough WR and slot/rb play makers down the road for ND.

Treadwell runs a 4.5 according to rivals. Hunter JR runs a 4.57 according to rivals. Allen runs a 4.5 according to rivals. I think all of them are great players and it'd be awesome to get them all. But I don't see the coaches taking 3 more WRs, or even 2. I think they'd take one of Allen or Hunter and if Treadwell wanted on they'd take him

There isn't a chance in hell we take 5 receivers in this class. No way.

I agree. And with Onwualu and Robinson already on board plus Fuller, an athlete, maybe fitting at WR, I see only one more WR who isn't an elite talent like Treadwell.

Onwualu
Robinson
Fuller*
Hunter JR/Allen
Treadwell (a long shot maybe)

*denotes may or may not be playing WR

So assuming Fuller moves to DB then that would mean we would take 3 WRs in this class. And if we are lucky and get Treadwell we get 4. No way do we take 5. Fuller may be 5th but in the event we get Treadwell and Hunter JR or Allen I see him moving to a different position.

did any of you guys watch the video or read the board at II?

If you did, you'd know that Treadwell = pipedream.

Hope he goes to Oklahoma. Very likely headed to Michigan though.

Treadwell may be a longshot but I think our odds are better than most people think

I guess I could see us taking all of them. It may depend on timing. Hunter is supposed to be close to committing, so assuming he does pull the trigger he is in. If Allen wants to commit soon, he'll be in. And then if something changes and Treadwell has renewed interest in ND and he wants in, I'm sure we'd take him; he's too good to pass up. But if Treadwell committed before Allen and/or Hunter, we could only take one of them at most, I'd think.

I agree they shouldn't take 5. But if Treadwell wants to come you have to take him. But I think they need to take 4 because I don't think these guys are going to end up exactly as fans are projecting them. I think Robinson is going to be a TE and there seems to be at the very least a decent shot at that. I mean, that's more or less why they recruited him. They knew he might grow like crazy. If he does, he's the perfect replacement for Eifert, if he doesn't he could be a really good red zone player and maybe even better than that. Onwualu looks good but he also may end up playing the slot/rb position especially if there isn't another player like Muhammed taken there and I think he'd be great at that. So who are your outside guys? If the above scenario played out, you'd have Fuller only. He may very well play in the secondary and he's been recruited as a guy who can play either 1. That's why I think you have to take Hunter and Allen if you can get him. Next year you only have a few guys who can play ball at WR: Jones, Daniels, Brown, Neal, Ferguson. That's nothing in terms of numbers.

Does Corey have the frame to support the weight of a TE though? I could see him being like a Plaxico Burress type of target on the outside.

All I know is the coaches will take whose best for the team and I look forward to seeing how it plays out

Using forty times from recruiting sites is not a wise way to go about measuring speed.

He's a good body to have but so far has shown no big time ability and no likelihood of being a good to very good player. Of course that could happen. What I'm saying is that the above guys are the only guys who you look at and say, that guy will be someone there's a good chance will be effective. I think you can throw Carlisle if healthy in there for sure but he hasn't been healthy his entire career yet. Mahone will likely never be an extremely effective slot receiver but he might be solid too. So throw him in there. But ND needs more kids like Russell who know coming in they could play on either side, have speed and athletic ability, and are ready to do whatever. That's what makes Fuller so valuable. But they should take a lot of those guys because they are struggling getting elite corners signed.

Oh and Buster is completely right about the 40 times. Treadwell you take no matter what, but he stretches the field because of size and speed and jump ball catching ability. Devon allen stretches it because of pure speed. ND needs both types of players but they have really struggled until last year to get guys who could do anything in space. Have to get at least one big time one in each class.

Wisdom beyond years and stars! I am thinking DA is faster than that guy Darby from last year, and he bragged on an almost "4.nothing forty". This summers track and field sort of bore that out.

Yes, but Darby looks way faster on the field than Allen. What happens on the track doesn't matter. Look at Josh Atkinson. He doesn't look crazy athletic and fast to me in the clips we see of him. Guys get over the top of him. No way they beat him in a foot race on a track.

I was thinking over the weekend that the Bama game might affect Treadwell's feeling about Michigan.

He's using a unofficial which means he still wants to take visits.

Yup. I have kinda forgotten a lot about his recruitment, but wasn't there something about him and Mich not talking for a while? Has that picked back up?

I was in USER CP and the Justin Brent thread was above Laquon's... in a dyslexic moment I thought I saw Laquan Treadwell (Notre Dame verbal) ... then I became disappointed.

Apparently he has the ACT to take this weekend, won't be in Ann Arbor. Usually you know a while in advance when you are taking it so maybe he's just blowing off Michigan.

Scrubbing the smell of Ann Arbor off after a visit must be brutal. Can't blame him for not wantiong to go through that.

He was scheduled to go to Illinois last Saturday as well and had to cancel because he had practice all of a sudden...

Hell, even Hoke knows how bad it is.

He 'claimed' it was to get ready to play in the atmosphere of Cowboys Stadium, but pretty sure everyone knows that the real reason that he had the skunkbears at Ford Field last week was that, after a month solid of fall camp, Ann Arbor utterly unbearable.

and ironically, Laquon scheduled an official to OU today.... against Notre Dame.

If we can get this kid to officially visit us this season, then that would be three actual games he saw. I wish the staff would push him to visit for the Stanford game. If things worked out and he watched us handle all three games (big hyperbole) it could drastically improve our shot with him.

Thanks for the info Wooly. I just feel like Laquon wants to see as much ND as he can for some reason....I like it.
