I think Crist will have a good season, and Davie's taking over one of the worst FBS programs, so I'll go with Weis.

Former UNM coach Locksley screwed the program over (the guy is a real POS), so I think Weis will have a better season.

Feel for Davie.

UNM is the pits right now.

Very brave to take that job.

His Irish teams never quit.

Hoping the UNM players dig in and get better as season goes along.

It has it's tough games but I'm not sure any schedule that has South Dakota State and Rice can be considered as "brutal"

It is when you have KU's talent.

Steele's lists KU with the 11th Toughest Schedule while New Mexico has the 97 Toughest.

Those would be the only easy games I see on that schedule, the rest of the opponents range from respectable to nasty imo.

As far as who will have the better record for 2012, I went with Weis, but I might change my vote. Bob Davie can coach defense, Weis knows offense. On the other hand, Kansas's biggest problem is on defense (9 of their 12 opponents last year put up 40+ points, while giving up 59+ points in 4 of those) which is bad for Weis. While New Mexico's schedule is somewhat weaker, they seem to have problems on both sides of the ball. I expect New Mexico's defense to improve a bit under Davie, but I have no idea how their offense will fair.

I think Davie has a chance to win 5 games, I see Weis winning between 4-6 games.

Before you make a snap judgment - go look at KU's roster. Of the starting 22, I think about 16-18 have been replaced by incoming transfers or freshman.

They still have a major uphill climb given their schedule, but the Jayhawks will be an entirely new team. Their new roster is surprisingly legit. Lots of guys like Crist who have risk but could yield major rewards.

I posted this in the other charlie weis vs. bob davie thread. I now realize that I was flying solo in that one. BTW- why the he!l are there 2 threads for this??? Anyway:

Weis in 2012. Also Weis for their respective careers. Although both have demonstrated an ability to be ineffective as head coaches, I think Weis' involvement in both the college and pro game gives him an edge over Davie and his semi involvement calling mostly 2nd-rate games for espn these past 10 or so years. Plus, KU is the better and more relevant program.

Only other prediction is that Weis may eat Davie at some point.

Relevancy really doesn't have much to do with your W-L column....

Over/under on how many bites it takes chuckles to consume Davie.

So does the rest of the Big 12, so they will have to score a crap ton. With that said, I think we see/hope Dayne has the kind of year we all thought he had in him. He feels comfortable with Weis, and I think it will show in a solid year for him.

Going on zero competent information, I'm going to stand up for the defense. I always liked Bob Davie as a person and a really good defensive coach, and I think that his guys will win about half their games. I'm rooting for Charlie too, but I'm no more convinced about Dayne there than I was here. [but of course I'm still rooting for him and our other two transfers to have great years]. Davie wins six; Weis wins four.

The lobo's are terrible. CW will probably win 4 or 5 games while big dave wins 2

Gotta go with Weis and KU. Really hope he does well there. You figure South Dakota St and Rice are wins. They beat Northern Illinois last year, so let's say they win that one although its a toss-up. I could see them taking one from Iowa State, Baylor, Texas Tech. 4-8 would be a strong season from Chuck. If they ever got to 6-6, he'd be a candidate for Coach of the Year lol.

Forever and always, a Chuck fan...... Perhaps that it has to with the fact that I work with special needs individuals every day, but I think he's a good guy deep down in side. Just sayin'...

I honestly like all of our former coaches, despite what damage they may have or not done...

I am definately rooting for Charlie more as I am also a fan of KU...

I hope Charlie has the better record only because he has a bunch of former ND players on his team. I think they're both lousy head coaches.

Bob Davie is 1-1 after leading New Mexico against Texas to a 45-0 defeat
Charlie Weis is 1-1 after losing to Rice 25-24. Crist was also 16-28 for 144 yards, 1 TD, and 2 Ints.

Which loss is worse?
