I was saw TP on twitter talking about Jaylon, seemed like Jaylon was just a monster on defense. Every tweet had Jaylon stuffing the run, rushing the QB or breaking up a pass. Too bad their offense couldnt get anything going.

Jake Brown said Jaylon had like 8-10 tackles... So was it 10 or 20?

20 may be an exaggeration, but he seems to be in every play. It's hard to tell sometimes who comes up with the actual tackle, but I can tell you that Jaylon was getting up off the ball carrier at the end of at least 20 plays...if he wast the first one there to make the tackle, he made sure to finish the play. He had quite a few tackles and I think 8-10 would be a low number from what I saw last night.

I was at the game as well and will officially eat my words in support of the coaches! What a mess. It stings a bit as I know most of them and have for years. I was scratching my head for 4 quarters. Jaylon is the best offensive player on the field and played such a minor role on O it made me a bit sick. He is every bit as good on the offensive side of the ball as he is on D. He was held quite often but his lack of skill in shedding blockers at times lends to that. I know his strenght training coach as well and he will have another 15 to 20 pounds on him by the time he hits ND. This will help him greatly with those blockers.

To support the block shedding issue that everyone is talking about, I point you to one of the last plays on the highlights previously posted from this week's game. It was on the goal-line touchdown run by Snider.

To counter this... it's not an issue that can't be easily fixed with coaching. He's still the best OLB in the country and a top 5 player overall.

Size, strength, and coaching was where i was going. The blocker who turned him in on that play is my buddy's son, Addison Dellinger. Had him a very nice game.

Not going to lie, I still had a small bit of fear that of we blow azz this year, he may look elsewhere. With that said...

He tweeted at Manti today and Manti tweeted back. (If its against NCAA the FUQ IT!)

Jaylon: @manti - My idol - ball out each an everyday, i got you

Manti: @Jaylon - sacrifice now so that tomorrow is what you want it to be! You control your future as long as you put in the work. Keep it up!

Quotes are exact but not copied..

Pretty excited for our new LB..

I'm glad we are going to be lucky enough to slide a premier LB right into the corps with Manti moving on to the league. I'm still going to miss T'eo like no other.

Manti hasn't even shown us his best yet. I expect we will see it this season.

That's awesome! Did he have a game tonight or is there a lot of high school football played on Saturdays in Indiana?

Well, Luers won in a nail biter last night. Jaylon scored 2 rushing tds and Luers won the game by completing a 15+ yard 4th down, then the following play a 45 yard td pass with 7 seconds on the clock. Exciting game!

Jaylon played....well, he seemed hot and cold. He had some amazing plays...in fact his 3 blitzes all ended with him hitting the QB (2 broke up the pass, the other was a sack). His coaches, however, did NOT put him in position to succeed throughout the game. He did whiff entirely on one tackle, and then let a little guy break out of his weak arm tackle later, but every time he made a mistake he would come back the next play and KILL IT.

Again, looked excellent in pass coverage. Had a batted ball and a lot of tackles again. Sometimes it looks like he's taking a few plays off, but when he decides to play hard on a play...it's scary!

Overall, I'd say he wasn't as good as he should have been tonight, but he also wasnt put in a position to succeed at all! All the fans were complaining about the coaches lack of Jaylon usage on both offense and defense.

For example, 2:15 left in the game. Luers down by 3. Have the ball on their own 10 with a qb who hasnt done much all game, top receiver sidelined with an injury, and chronic dropping syndrome on offense. the defense lines up 3 D-linemen and 2 LBs...safeties both spread out wide to cover the slots. Literally the entire middle of the field WIDE OPEN. Jaylon in the backfield. What do you call here? .....You're right, we should run Jaylon up the middle so he can take it 90 yards to the house. NOPE! 3 passes (with Jaylon in to block) and 3 incompletions. Wish Jaylon were put in a better situation to succeed this season, but so far it's been disappointing.

But guys, we have a good one on our hands. He's extremely talented out there. You can just tell he's on another level when he plays!

Wow, am I understanding what's going on here? Sounds like Jaylon's success is going to his coaches heads.

Whoa. Hmmmm. I'm supposed to be heading to South Bend for the Purdue game that evening. This might make me postpone the drive for an hour or two.

I am buying, if you can get a designated driver. I am picking my tickets to the Michigan game up on Sunday, and by the way, I heard that kid from Whitmer, (last year, defensive end) is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Also going to the Pitt game with my little kids. Would you sit on L2 with little ones, above the Student Section. What do you think? Or anyone else. Someone told me sitting on the upper level with 6 to 10 year olds might not be too bad, that they could see better. I have them right in the corner behind the student section.

Back to the 7th, who else can come to see Leurs at Whitmer. Should be a good test of Leurs metal.

@Jake_Brown: 5-star #NotreDame OLB commit Jaylon Smith had 8 solo tackles, 2 TFLs and 1 sack Friday in a win. Also, two rushing TDs. Luers is 1-1.

Who was that guy?

So weird.

I read all of his posts.

I think a computer somewhere has gone "responsive."

That can't be a bot...
