1. I love the Butler and Kinlaw pickups. HUGE. Very good athletic guys that like STL said do fit Diaco's D. But no offense to those two but when you watch their "film" aka youtube HIGHLIGHT video Vernon Hargreaves/McKenzie Alexander (prob missed on spelling on both their names) are physically, athletically, skill wise way ahead of Butler or Kinlaw. Kinlaw has a highlight film of him playing Qb essentially running the wildcat.
However keep in mind in Diaco's D scheme and the front 7 personal we have ND doesnt need elite cbs. If you have a talent/deep Dline itll take you farther than anything. Obviously you dont have to blitz, you stop the run, and can sit back. ND has done very well with the front 7 in BKs time, and 2013 class is only going to provide depth and more talent. Butler and Kinlaw are perfect for Diacos D. Hargreaves would be a hell of a pickup and give even more to work with scheme wise.
DT I have no objections to picking one up this year, but next year itll more of a need. Diacos scheme is brilliant bc it does let ND get away with rotating kids in different spots. Prime example Troy Niklas last year played OLB, DT, DE. Tuitt/Lynch/Kona/Hounshell/KAP/Newman/EJ all flipped at DE/DT. Sure you need a Nix for 1st/2nd down, but at the sametime ND can get away with not having a Nix and sliding a Tuitt/Jarron/Day/Rochell down when the CAT has their hand in the ground. I mean essentially you have Tuitt, Hounshell, KAP, Day, Jones, Kona, and possibly Springmann able to play anywhere on the dline...That has to be a nightmare for a OC.
Elite kids are going to come from coaching. This staff has proven in their 2 years that they can more than coach up the kids. Itll be nice to have these recruiting classes get 4-5 years with Longo, same scheme, same coaches over their career.
