Even though he isnt a better player... 3 of the 4 recruiting services have Alex ranked quite a bit ahead of Mitchell and the one service that doesnt (rivals I believe) is only by 2 overall spots in the entire class, not just position.

Rivals Challenge will be held at Soldier Field this summer. Could work in NDs favor as many of the top prospects in the country will be coming up for it, maybe they can get a visit out of some guys that thought they would only be able to OV

Unfortunately per Sampson, there are potential recruiting violations associated with those kinds of visits. Rivals can't fund flights to the Midwest that are then used for visits to Notre Dame, per NCAA rules. The kids would have to then pay for their own flights to allow the visit to occur.

Last year's Opening(2012) had quite a representative group of Notre Dame verbals - Devin Butler, Steve Elmer, Colin McGovern, James Onwualu(wired jaw), Corey Robinson, and Jaylon Smith. In attendance were future commitments Tori Hunter, Doug Randolph, and Eddie Vanderdoes. Not a bad haul, except for, the fish that got away - Alex Anzalone.
