The two national semifinal games would be played within the existing BCS bowl games (Fiesta, Orange, Rose and Sugar) on a rotating basis, with the host sites being predetermined before each season. The national championship game would be offered to the highest bidding city.

Hellllooooooooooooooooooooooo Superbowl.

I think this gets it close enough. Should be interesting to see how they try to manipulate conference champs over higher rated teams.

So no more than one from each conference or top three conference champs plus a wild card to next highest rated school to include independents? Seems that would make the most sense.

I suspect there is more discussion over splitting $$$s than there is over how to pick the four.

Jack Swarbrick has been phenomenal for ND.

He really has been. When history looks back on Notre Dame's football lull, they will say it was mostly due to the era of Kevin White, and that Brian Kelly and Jack Swarbrick righted his wrongs.

FIFY. Though you weren't far off.

That about sums it up... Never understood why Monk never had his feet held to the fire while Kevvy took the brunt of the abuse. I view him far more accountable than Dopey White.

Too much happy, slappy going on there... Seems like azz$laps and reach-arounds are the order of the day. We aren't out of the woods just yet.

Great job to date, Jack, but there's more to be done.

Can you say that?

8 teams just wouldn't work out considering the limited window in which these games can take place and the additional games that would further contribute to the wear and tear of a season on athletes like concussions, knee injuries, etc.

They've been doing in D1AA for years. 16 teams in fact.

4 is the perfect number. 4 or 6. There are never more than 4 or 5 teams that can even claim that they deserve a shot at the national championship. Anything more than 6 lessens the value of the regular season too much.

8 games would be nice, if only to give a possible underdog a shot at the title. 4 games is fine though, and it takes nothing away from the regular season. Say you had 2 undefeateds and 2 teams that maybe lost 1 game because their QB got knocked out or something. This gives those teams that had one bad break a chance at redemption.

I really hope strength of schedule is a determining factor. Teams need to stop scheduling DI-AA schools and MAC teams to pad their schedules

I'm looking at you Posu, MeatChicken, PennStPen.... Show you have some sausage....

*Disclaimer....(PennStPen.. One of your former employees has already shown enough sausage. You're exempt but atleast schedule a Mountain West team or St. Bonaventure or something.... Do they even have a football team?)

That's what's so awesome about this new format. Strength of schedule should be a huge factor. Before, you practically had to go undefeated to be in the top two, and because the computer calculates a win as a win regardless of who it was played against, teams would put cupcakes *cough FSU, Michigan, OSU* ahem, on their schedules to rack up more wins. Well now, putting scrubs on the schedule is gonna hurt your chances of being selected by the committee.

FCS teams on an FBS schedule should illicit an automatic .5 game loss.

Oh come on

Oh come on

ND plays a pretty tough schedule most years but ND also plays a few patsies - let's not pretend that ND is somehow above all this.
