Was MVP yesterday of the RAS camp OVER Jaylon Smith

1. Jeff Jones: Ranked as the nation’s No. 7 running back and No. 84 prospect overall in the class of 2014, the 6-foot, 195-pound Minneapolis (Minn.) Washburn standout may have even exceeded expectations, walking away with camp MVP honors from the staff. Already a precise route runner, Jones dominated the afternoon portion of the camp, getting open at will. A good looking prospect on the hoof, Jones also proved to be elusive after catching the football. His performance landed him offers from Illinois and Iowa following the camp. Minnesota and Michigan State had previously extended a verbal scholarship.

- Steve Wiltfong

At the Illinois NFTC today

10. Jeff Jones, RB, Minneapolis Washburn (2014) – Despite a loaded running back group, Jones was consistently one of the top performers if not the best at any given drill. He has a great running back frame that looks capable of 3-down work. Jones is a wide receiver out of the backfield in pass-catch settings, he’s a high-energy, high-effort prospect and he seems to love to compete and work. Already ranked in the Top100 for the class of 2014 on 247Sports, Jones will be a nationally recruited prospect out of Minnesota.

If he's that good in 7 on 7 drills running routes he'd excel in our slot/rb position. Hopefully Floyd gets in his ear too

Not visiting with Onwualu, but will be visiting while Onwualu is there. James does know Jeff and is trying to recruit him to ND but they aren't traveling together.

I'm liking the talent coming out of Minnesota recently. One thing for sure is that you know the kids are not going to be afraid of the SB weather.

Standout 2014 RB Set For Camp

Is visiting ND this week because Jaylon Smith was in his ear at the camp previously mentioned. Jaylon picked him out as a stand out and told Jones about what Notre Dame had to offer.

“I'm looking for strong academics, a great weight program and just great tradition.”

Haven't seen the weight program one a lot, I think we got a good shot at him

No offer yesterday and is still being evaluated likely do to his speed. Ran a 4.75. I am sure that is not his normal speed.

We'll see what happens if/when he gets the big time offers, neither ND, UM, or OSU have offered yet

I actually first saw the commit here from Philly, than checked twitter and saw Wiltfong's post about his recruitment not being over, and thought it was noteworthy. Thanks for the scoop Philly.
