Tough loss for us but I have to say, ASU has a pretty sweet campus and much better facilities than most people think. Plus there are literally endless things for a college student to do in the Tempe/south Scottsdale area. I've always wondered why they don't recruit better than they usually do, if I was 18 and being recruited, I'd be really impressed.

Truth. I have family in the Phoenix area so everytime I'm out there I go to that area to party, mostly being the guy who graduated from college 4 years ago but likes to pretend he's still there. Regardless, I'm always blown away by a few things. The sheer number of GORGEOUS women, the enormity of the student population (which I believe is the largest in the country), and how much fun it is to party in the area. I agree... If I was a college kid and being recruited by ASU, I'd definitely at least take an official haha. Place is cray.

The weird thing is how different ASU and ND are. I guess understanding wanting to stay home. If ASU goes 4-8 though it'll be interesting to see what happens. They play an easy schedule, as good as 10-2 is possible, but they could also lose all but the opener with how many question marks their team has.

What about Michael Hutchings?

From the sounds of it unless things drastically change he is USC....had a good visit to UDub and has said to want to "open" things up with his recruitment....but many still think SC

Chans Cox tells @bradcesmat proximity was biggest reason he chose @SparkyArizonaSt over #NotreDame. @Pros2Preps #ASU #CFB

Well, nothing we can do about that. I guess if we had to lose him I'm glad that was the reason.

I can't imagine telling my parents I wanted to go to... say... James Madison (Virginia party school that used to have like 90% chicks) instead of Notre Dame for the proximity. It's always interesting to see how different people/families prioritize things...

Best of luck to him.

ASU could have a very rough year. I wouldn't be surprised if he visits ND during the season.

Nothing wrong with kid's choice. Just because he didn't choose ND it doesn't mean the kid or his family's priorities are not in order as you seem to suggest.

Chans stayed home so his family could watch him play. Lets just say they wouldn't be taking to many trips to South Bend if he ended up at ND. That played something in his recruitment.

Agreed. There is nothing wrong with his chest.

Nice reading comprehension. I said it was interesting how different people/families prioritize things. Every year there are hundreds of kids who put a premium on staying close to home, and every year there are hundreds of kids who don't. Each approach has merit of its own right. ND has plenty of kids who go both ways... guys like Gunner Kiel and Jaylon Smith who put a premium on proximity and guys like Keivarae Russel and Stephon Tuitt who did the opposite.

EDIT: there was a DCIRISH who got banned on here before... doesn't look like you're the same guy.... I don't think.

You said that you couldn't imagine choosing a local school over ND in the previous post I quoted. Clearly it seems like you think the kid made a mistake.

Cox has to do what is best for him and go where he feels comfortable.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart towards Arizona St. Huge fan of Pat Tillman! That is the kind of person I strive to be! Not that I go out of my way to catch their games or anything like that, but I did enjoy them taking down the fighting Kiffens last year!

Lots of guys have family, friends, or a main squeeze, which trump the conversation. I always am amazed when that happens; when we (me included, sometimes) act so incredulous, being that ND has a national recruiting venue.

That being said you sure have changed your look, Grahambo. Wow! Rapid major change.

I came across the signature picture and liked it so I added it.

For the record, I think staying close to home to attend ASU is a mistake. Sure worked out for Vontaze Burfict at ASU

I would have to say that the signature pic you added is "interesting".

probably been mentioned already, but didn't we just land a commit not too long ago, where he clearly stated that proximity to home played a major role??
