Cierre ought to shut his cake hole until his own game is worth bragging about.

Why all the hate for Wood? He dances too much sometimes, but he had a pretty awesome year overall.

I'd say being the first thousand-yard rusher at ND since Walker is worth bragging about.

Thank you.

If Wood didn't dance at least sometimes, he wouldn't be as effective of a runner. This also ignores the fact that Jonas Gray danced just as much (if not more) and was able to break the long runs, while Wood was used as the in-between the tackles power runner far more often than Gray in 2011.

It's one of those great misconceptions that will likely always persist because Gray weighs more, is bigger, etc.

Oh well.

Look back to the BC game. A close win. Who's carrying the ball late in the game to eat crucial minutes off the clock? Wood (Gray was hurt by then).

Wake Forest game. Second to last possession. Gray loses 4 yards after a Floyd first down. Gray can't pick up the first down on two more runs. ND punts. Last possession starting on their own 25. Who trots out there? Wood. He picks up 11 on two runs and a crucial first down. Gray then gets 16 yards on 5 carries with the help of a WF offsides to seal the win.

Pitt game. 3rd and 2 with ND trailing late in the fourth. Wood lowers his head and powers for the first down. Probably the most underrated play of the season. Irish continue the drive and score the game-winning TD drive.

But of course Cierre needs to work on hitting the hole quicker, but what back doesn't? He surely has improved on this from his first season. The attack on him above was out of line, but is to be expected since he (was perceived to have) disparaged OSF*.

It's not surprising that some showed up late to the party to disparage Wood.

Agree.

I loved Gray. Probably my favorite player. But he was a speed back that happened to weigh 235 lbs. He used his power in the sense that you could not bring him down easily, but he was not running through people like a traditional power back Trent Richardson.

Sometimes it Wood gets taken down too easily because he is not moving downhill aggressively. However, all the dancing is why he was 10 yards downfield in the first place. He is not a power back either, but he certainly isn't afraid of going between the tackles.

I thought Wood had an A season. I think he still has the potential for an A+. Pounds and years matter, and a senior CW getting hit by guys his age and younger will be more confident and decisive than a young CW adjusting to college.

??? He rushed for 1000 yards. I'd say that's definitely worth bragging about. Cierre's a beast and I can't wait to see how well he does next year. He pulled his weight and the QB didn't.

HCTI what exactly do you want from Cierre a touchdown every play would be nice yes but he had a 1000 yard season cant and wont complain about that he runs hard. He is not a power back and never will be let him dance

GB, how do you like our chances with Ryan?

I understand what everyone is saying about us being deep at the position, and Amir certainly did nothing but help us out as well, but I think this kid is one of those game changers that makes and 8-5 season without a 10-3 season with. Despite the record this team is so much better than it was prior to Kelly comming here but we need game breakers with the type of schedule we play.
Agree/Disagree

I like them more than other people do. Riddick and Cierre are gone next year. So ya we need Ryan Green if that's what your asking. We need game changers at the skill positions in the worst way. if you want compete with the big boys we need guys like Ryan Green.

I agree and disagree...he is a game changer and we need players like him to hit the next level but all Im saying is if we dont get him we should not freak. With that said I do really really want him and think he could make an immediate impact at ND. Lets pray he can strike out on his own away from his family and make a name for himself in that beautiful gold helmet...not the one with the freaken spear and lil tiny tomahawks!

By next season, eligibility:

Wood - 1
Atkinson - 2
Carlisle - 2/3
Mahone - 3/4
Russell - 3/4

Cierre needs to have a big season if he wants to get into the top rounds. I think Cierre believes he'll be in the draft next year.

Russell has flown under the radar, but the kid is ridiculously good. Will probably take a role similar to Riddick this coming year.

Regardless of draft grade? Not sure how or why he would make that decision at this point.

Cierre thinks the world of himself that's just his attitude. He believes he is good enough for the draft and if he has a breakout year he will.

Understood. He definitely seems like the type to jump earlier than later, and if his grade comes in somewhere in the first three rounds, I have no doubt he'll be gone.

But that's far from guaranteed. What defines a "breakout year"? He could easily break 1k+ yards rushing and still get a 5th round grade or something. In that case, it might make sense for him to come back for his 5Y to play himself into a lot more money.

I know he's cocky, but he's never struck me as stupid. Just seems like a silly thing to decide before the season is even played.

Well i hope that he does indeed have a huge year and move into the top couple of rounds. A big year from cierre will mean we have had a succesful season.

Although, hopefully he follows in Mike, Manti, and Tyler's footsteps and sticks around for his final year.

He is always having a great time, and loves being in front of the camera during the ICON and Trick shot videos. I think he would hate leaving that behind; he could have another year left to impress into a 2nd round or better pick.

Guys, the football world is full of players who left a year too early. Even Notre Dame players (Darius Walker anyone?) It would surprise me more, as a graduate of ND already, if CW stayed than if he left.

And forego his MBA year?

I also think he's gone after this year. He often tweets about the NFL and recently just tweeted about how he wanted to leave ND after his first year there and how now he's reached that point where he'll be leaving soon.

Unfortunately, Wood is majoring in FTT. ROI on such degrees is probably disappointing.

IIRC, the ROI for ND MBA's is $6 million +; I'll dig it up from Cwynar's thread soon. Wish more players would follow his example.
