How many RB's are we taking in this class? Seems like the staff has a lot of offers out to the position.

By the time the '13 players get on campus, there will be Carlisle, Atkinson, Russell, and Mahone, with Cierre a remote possibility if he doesn't leave after this year and is granted a 5th, right?

So presuming that Cierre goes, that leaves the position still pretty deep entering the '13 season. I can't imagine the staff would take too many guys at RB.

The only reason I can think of them taking maybe 2 guys in this class is because with the way they structure their training, philosophy, and offense, they cross train these guys at slot as well. It would thus make them more likely to add additional playmakers, but then you have a guy like Davonte Neal who would be in the mix as well. Just curious as to what people thought on that. I always feel that the more playmakers, the better, but we need some depth in the defensive backfield and other areas too.

Isn't Russel going to be a receiver? And we always send out major offers to RBs, and at least lately, strike out. I'm guessing if we land one top dog, we're backing off the rest.

Hard to say. Between RB and Z WR, we'll have 9 scholarship athletes for 2012. If Cierre leaves early, one could argue we'll only have 5 serviceable options for 2013, since Roberson's injury is likely to keep him from ever producing for us.

If, however, Cierre sticks around and the staff is optimistic that Roberson can at least provide some semblance of quality depth, then we're sitting pretty at 7/8 for 2013.

My guess is that we'll take at least one RB, and maybe two if we land one of our top targets.

Isn't Russel going to be a receiver?

I've tried separating the RBs and Z WRs from each other, but it's a fool's errand at the moment. The staff may still have separate roster targets in mind, but as far as numbers go, we should probably look at the positions together to decide how close to full we are.

Um...I'm extremely impressed with his tape. Put him on offense or defense I don't care. I don't see why the services have him ranked so low. South Jersey isn't the best competition, but it's not horrible. I love this kid, he is this years Chris Mangus to me.

I mean wow...You can tell why FSU and OSU are on him. The Scouting services need to do some more homework on him.

I think Diaco was out there so I'm sure he is the one who offered...wonder if defense was discussed....correct if I'm wrong.

I was thinking the same thing. I like the philosophy on the field, but it's also great to think about with recruiting too. It basically allows us to probably take a couple more playmakers each year, and it probably flies well with recruits who see the type of flexibility someone like Percy Harvin brings. Being that versatile is extremely valuable. Man, once Kelly's offense blows up you gotta think that these type of offensive playmakers would be lining up at the door to get in.

Man this kid is all over the place. Told Badgers247 he had a top 2 of Wisco and Pitt. Then came out with this top 4... with no Wisconsin.

247 staffer Tom Loy had this to say:

Hey guys. Just stopping over to over my two cents. I've known Clement for months and actually first put his info on the scene prior to any site out there.

That said, this is going to be a Florida State, Wisconsin and Pittsburgh battle.

He loves Florida State and called it a dream offer. He wanted to commit at one point to be honest. For running backs that are late on the scene, that is just not possible without camping. That said, this will come down to visits.

He will visit all three. And as mentioned here, he is VERY high on the Badgers. He loves the offensive line and really respects what they have accomplished over the last few years. He spoke to me about the large, mammoth line Wisconsin always has and that really appeals to him.

This should be a fun recruitment to watch.

That comment is not VIP, for the record.

So he goes from Wisco being the leader to them not in his top 4? I am not buying this recruitment.

If this kid hits up the camp circuit this summer he will blow up. I hope we can get him on campus.

FSU has done a pretty good job of recruiting NJ. Have landed a few kids in recent years. Family is trying to keep his recruitment's lowkey/somewhat private.
