My 14-year-old daughter and I went to Alabama recently to visit family and meet my new granddaughter who was born while we were there. I drove my daughter around town to show her where I'd gone to school, had my first job, my old hangouts, and etc. One of the places I showed her was an old Dairy Queen that was popular when I was a kid. By the early '90s it had outgrown its building, so the owner built a new, much larger one nearby and relocated, then sold the old building to a Mexican family. Their restaurant did so well that after a few years they opened a second larger one on the other side of town. Inevitably though, the first one soon gained a nickname. Even the owners often welcome regulars with "Welcome to El Dairy Queeno!"
