Culver’s is good but in drive thru they always ask you to park and give you a number. I feel by the time the order is ready and brought out, the ice cream is already half melted.
Some believe in eating dessert first...my daughter in particular.

My 14-year-old daughter and I went to Alabama recently to visit family and meet my new granddaughter who was born while we were there. I drove my daughter around town to show her where I'd gone to school, had my first job, my old hangouts, and etc. One of the places I showed her was an old Dairy Queen that was popular when I was a kid. By the early '90s it had outgrown its building, so the owner built a new, much larger one nearby and relocated, then sold the old building to a Mexican family. Their restaurant did so well that after a few years they opened a second larger one on the other side of town. Inevitably though, the first one soon gained a nickname. Even the owners often welcome regulars with "Welcome to El Dairy Queeno!"
My first job was at a Dairy Queen. Not sure what the process is now, but back then, the ice cream mixture was brought in large tubs and kept in a cooler. It's then pumped into the machine and frozen when it comes through the machine. We use to drink it straight out of the vat. lol

You may not realize it, but you're in the midst of greatness. You're posting with the person who created the chocolate chip shake at DQ in '67. We got free food for our breaks, so I took the chocolate dip for cones and put it in my shake then mixed it. The owner asked me what I was doing. When I showed him, he said he wanted to try it. Next thing I know, he had gotten a hold of DQ headquarters to see if it was okay for him to offer it. They approved and in the words of Paul Harvey, "And now you know the rest of the story".

That DQ is still in operation.

My "next door" (I lived on 100 acres, so calling someone a neighbor is a relative meaning) neighbors father played for Notre Dame. In Minnesota, especially the Duluth area, there is not a whole lot of a college football following, so you kinda get to pick and choose what team to root for. That's the whole reason why I became a Notre Dame fan in the first place.

I'm glad he didn't play for USC or scUM.

I belong to a FB group for my old HS. One of the retired teachers is sort of the group's historian and often posts old pics from the school's yearbook and the local newspaper about stuff from decades ago. Tonight, he posted a pic of a student from the '50s that reminded me of a great story about the guy. Back in the mid '50s, the school had hired a new teacher. Some of this guy's friends pulled her aside before the first class and told her that he was mildly retarded and all the other teachers just gave him a B without expecting any work from him. He made it almost to the end of the semester before the teacher mentioned him to another teacher, who told her there was nothing wrong with him. He had to repeat the class, but he became a legend. He would go on to graduate from law school and be elected a state senator. LOL
