The Blue Jays have sent former AL MVP Josh Donaldson to the Indians, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. As things stand, the return isn't yet known.
Donaldson, 32, is hitting .234/.333/.423 with five homers and 16 RBI in just 36 games this season. He was limited with a shoulder injury to begin the season and has been on the disabled list with a serious calf injury since late May. He will be a free agent after the season, so he's likely looking for a big month to help earn back some of those dollars he likely has lost with this down season.
The Indians have a few options with Donaldson. They could play him at third base, moving Jose Ramirez to second base and kicking Jason Kipnis out to the outfield. They can also use him at designated hitter while putting Edwin Encarnacion at first base. Donaldson could also be an option at first base.
Regardless, Indians skipper Terry Francona will have about a month to play with his lineups before hitting the postseason. His team came into Friday with a 14-game lead, so they obviously are going to the playoffs, and getting everything set for October is the biggest goal in September.
The Yankees acquired Adeiny Hechavarria in a trade with the Pirates on Friday night, bringing in a veteran infielder to back up injured shortstop Didi Gregorius.
The Yankees are sending a player to be named or cash to Pittsburgh for the 29-year-old Hechavarria, who is batting .254 with four homers and 29 RBIs in 76 games with the Rays and Pirates this season. As part of the deal, the Pirates will send the Yankees $863,709 to cover most of the $951,613 remaining in Hechavarria’s $5.9 million salary.
The trade was completed just before Friday’s deadline for traded players to be eligible for the postseason.
Gregorius has been out since Aug. 20 with a bruised left heel. He could come off the disabled list this weekend.
Hechavarria is a .255 career hitter over seven seasons with four teams. He has played mostly at shortstop with spot duty at second base and third base.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated left-hander Ryan Bollinger for assignment.
Much better

Not behind the plate. I'd rather have Romine's bat AND glove than Sanchez's.
Romine .255/.432/.742
Sanchez .188/.416/.699
No Thanks. You can keep your half a season sample size.
Sanchez actually has 25 more ABs than Romine.
On Defense although he only has "half a season sample size" Sanchez is 3rd in the AL with 10 passed balls. The leaders have 12.
Sanchez has more power ... when he connects. He's hitting .90 points lower than last season and I didn't hear a rehab report indicating any progress there.
Than's there base running, decision making, ...
Y'all still think the A's are the match up wanted in the Wild Card...???
