The Sox dropped their second game in a row! Dropped below a .700 winning percentage.

A losing streak while idle NY has a 3 game win streak and has closed to 9 games out ... with 38 games remaining.

Yeah just 38 games.

Meanwhile Judge still in pain. Stanton still plagued by hamstring. Gregorius may be heading to the DL also.

I remember a BoSox collapse where the Yankees trailed by a similar number late in the season! lol

Lynn cruised through the first 5 innings with a 2-0 lead then gave up a bunch of infield singles and a 3 run HR for a 5 run 6th in a 9-3 loss to the Inept Marlins by the Anemic Bombers.

Sox lost to Tampa while Happ and GRAY both won. NY hit 5 HRs in the twin bill. Andujar had 4 hits to raise his BA to .300, hit HR #21, and drove in 4 runs for a total of 70. Anhujar leads AL Rooks in BA and RBIs.

Sox have lost 6 of last 10 games while NY only lost 3. NY picked up 1.5 games tonight to close to 7 behind and 6 down in the loss column.

Voit HR #4 gives Severino 2-0 lead in the 2nd.

In his last 8 games including tonight he's 9 for 21, .429, with 3 HRs and 6 RBIs. Overall for NY in 17 games he's 11 for 38, .289 with 4 HRs and 12 RBIs. Last year with St. Louis he had 4 HRs in 114 ABs with 18 RBIs.

Starting Spreading The News ...

it's down to 5 in the loss column ... still a lot ... but alive and closing!

"The Yankees don't have to have the energy of a winning team."

Nice timing, Pedro!

NY sweep this weekend while Bosox GOT swept. Sox have lost 6 of 8 and and were outscored 24-5 this weekend.

Last night in a loss, "the replacements" had as many errors as hits making 3 errors in the last 3 innings while getting their 3rd hit in their last at bat.

Tonight at the end of 5 they have more errors than hits by a 2-1 margin while trailing 1-0.

obviously need to clean up in the field but if they can win from here (4-4 bottom 8th) coming back from 4 down will be big for team spirit.

Tied at 4, 1 out, bottom of the 9th ... Boone has .224 hitting Walker hit for .300 hitting Torreyes ... GAMETIME!

One pitch, one walk off by Walker.

Betances with the win, HRs by Andujar, Hicks, and Walker.

Sox maintain the lead with a bottom of the 9th win on an errant DP throw.

Yankees may have just caught huge wild-card break
By Howie Kussoy August 29, 2018 | 12:40pm
NY Post

The Yankees’ chances of hosting and winning a potential wild-card game just improved.

In the span of two days, the Oakland A’s have placed starting pitchers Sean Manaea and Brett Anderson on the disabled list, with manager Bob Melvin acknowledging Tuesday that Manaea, their ace, could miss the rest of the season with rotator cuff tendinitis.

The Yankees (84-48) lead the A’s (80-53) by 4 1/2 games for the top wild-card spot, with Seattle 5 1/2 games back of Oakland. The Yankees are 6 1/2 games back of Boston in the AL East.

“We’re hoping to get [Manaea] back at some point this season. Whether that happens or not, I’m not sure,” Melvin told reporters Tuesday.

Manaea (12-9) was in the midst of the best season of his three-year career, posting a 3.59 ERA in 27 starts this season, while leading the A’s in wins, quality starts (15), innings pitched (160 2/3) and strikeouts (108). He likely would have been Oakland’s choice for the wild-card showdown.

Anderson, 30, has repeatedly battled injuries throughout his career, but had performed well in 13 starts this season and held a 4.02 ERA.

No heroics tonight. No offense.

Both team with 6 hits. ChiSox had 4 for extra bases, 1 HR & 3 2Bs. NY had no extra base hits. White Sox win 4-1, Boston picks up another game.

Betances took a 7-5 lead into the 9th and struck out 3. Only problem was the 4 pitch walk followed by back to back HRs by the Tigers.

NY loses 8-7

Yankees Trade For Giants OF Andrew McCutchen

Yankees Trade For Giants OF Andrew McCutchen

McCuthen hitting .255, about 112 points higher than Shane Robinson's BA, 133 points higher OBP, and 171 points higher SLG.

McCutchen makes $14.75M this yr, but #Pirates picked up $2.5M in his trade. It means he has roughly $2M left on his deal. Not sure yet if any money would change hands between #Yankees and #sfgiants

I hear if the trade is completed #yankees will be sending two prospects to the #sfgiants for McCutchen and that Abital Avelino is one of them.

Wow. I Can’t believe Shane Robinson isn’t cutting it in right field. Absolutely stunned.

Maybe Boone can get Bird some games in the OF to show off that stellar glove to go along with that red hot bat.

I don't get the fascination the organization has with Bird. I get that he is a lefty with a swing that in theory should result in lots of homers at Yankee Stadium but the dude simply hasn't produced. On top of that he is so injury prone. I would like to see them target a free agent at first base in the offseason.

It's years like this I hate the one-game playoff, even if I weren't a Yanks fan. Second best record in the league may get bounced before the playoffs really begin.

I mean, would you rather do a best of five or something?? Playing baseball until mid November and the other playoff teams sitting around doing nothing for a week?
