Vegas sportsbook sets the odds on Yankees' Aaron Judge winning the Triple Crown - CBSSports.com

Yes, the Yankees' slugger is leading in all the relevant categories
Dayn Perry Jun 14, 2017

At the start of play on Wednesday, here are your AL leaders in batting average:
Aaron Judge, Yankees - .341
Corey Dickerson, Rays - .337
Avisail Garcia, White Sox - .333

And here are you AL leaders in home runs:
Aaron Judge, Yankees - 22
Logan Morrison, Justin Smoak, George Springer - 18

And finally your AL leaders in RBI:
Nelson Cruz, Mariners - 52
Aaron Judge, Yankees - 49
Avisail Garcia, White Sox - 48

After surveying those leaderboards you're likely to note that Mr. Judge leads in two categories and is tantalizing close to the top in the third category. As such, he's very close to topping the loop in all three Triple Crown categories. We're not even halfway through the season yet, so you can certainly argue that launching any manner of "Triple Crown watch" is premature. That said, Judge has no doubt made a huge impression in his rookie season, and he's certainly looked like a hitter who can keep this up.

Will Aaron Judge win the Triple Crown?
Yes 33/1

Will Aaron Judge lead the AL in Batting Average at the end of the Regular Season?
Yes +1000 (10/1)
No -2500 (1/25)

Aaron Judge - Will he lead the AL in Home Runs at the end of the Regular Season?
Yes +300 (3/1)
No -500 (1/5)

Aaron Judge - Will he lead the AL in RBI at the end of the Regular Season?
Yes +500 (5/1)
No -1000 (1/10)

Since 1900, just 14 hitters have won the Triple Crown, the last of course being Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers in 2012. It's a vanishingly rare feat, so it's appropriate that Judge faces long odds on this front. He's on much stronger footing when it comes to leading the AL in home runs.

Triple Crown Watch, activated! First, though, let's be sure this dude takes part in the Home Run Derby.

Clairvoyant?

It's 1-0 at the end of 1.

NY had the bases loaded in the top of 1.

He's talking about fauxston...

Anyway, that was a GREAT series with my Halos... hope the Yanks dominate the shit out of the East...

Tough series. Before the extra inning loss, NY was something like 33-0 when leading at the end of 7.

Bosox meanwhile did well winning a couple in extra innings over the Phillies to make things a little tighter.

Montgomery has the A's popping 'em up, 3 hits, a HR and back to back doubles.

Judge's 23rd homer in 65 games surpasses last year's team season leader, Beltran with 22.

NY was something like 33-0 when leading after 7 when they started this road trip. Once again the bullpen couldn't shut the door. Holder failed to live up to his name, blowing another save and taking the loss.

Chapman could be activated Sunday. Bird injury lingers.

Sanchez and Hicks sat out last night banged up reducing the offensive punch.

NY skid continues as Tanaka was throwing strikes. He whiffed 10 but gave up 3 HRs.

Sox showed some empathy dropping their game.

Really hope Cashman doesn't do something stupid at the deadline. Love this team and they are a lot of fun to watch, but they are more than a piece or two away. Ideally pick up a cheap arm or two but don't mortgage the future on a young team with little to no postseason experience.

Luis Cessa called up from Triple A ball to fill in for Sabathiavwhile on DL, pitched well in 3 of his 4 innings. Gave up a walk in the first, had a perfect inning in the second, and gave up a single in the 4th that was erased on a steal attempt. But in the 3rd after one out, he gave 4 hits to the next 5 batters, single, double, 2 run double, and 2 run HR.

NY had 2 HRs but both were solos leading off an inning in the 4-3 loss to Oakland.

1st place too heady for the BoSox.

Fall to KC, drop 1/2 game behind as Yanks don't lose. (Yeah, it was a travel day)

Holy moses Tyler Clippard is so bad

With Chapman out, Clippard had been doing fairly well but he's not Betances nor Chapman.

In his last 7 appearances for a total of 5.2 innings, before last night, he's given up 7 hits, 3 BB, and 6 ER.

Last night in 0 innings, he faced 2 batters giving up 2 hits, one an HR, and 2 runs.

Over his last 8 appearances that's 9 hits, 3 BB, and 8 ER in still 5.2 innings. I believe that works out to a 13.8 ERA for that span.

Slip Sliding Away!

Slip Sliding Away!

Yanks took a 5-1 lead in the 2nd on Judge's MLB Leading 25th HR. Then gave up 9 unanswered runs failing at the plate, on the mound, and in the field.

Idle Sox picked up a half game and are in a tie for 1st with NY.

Pitchers duel in the Bronx. Darvish shutout NY for 7 innings striking out 10. Tanaka gave up no earned runs through 8 striking out 9. Texas scored an unearned run on a Sanchez passed ball. (5th passed ball on the season, one short of last year's total). Gardener forced extra innings with a 9th inning tying HR. Yanks won in 10th on 3 singles.

NY and Bosox share 1st place.
