ARod's 25th HR gives him 15 seasons with at least 25 HRs joining Aaron, Ruth, Bonds, Jackson, and Robinson.

ARod's on pace for 34 HRs and 92 RBIs.

Wasn't that his 25th Grand Salami as well?

The Bird Is The Word

The Bird Is The Word

Rookie Greg Bird drove in all the runs with a pair of 2 run HRs in NY's 4-3 win over the Twins.

Eovaldi struck out 8 in 7 innings for his 13th win.

Yanks have won 6 of 7 and move 2 games up on Toronto with their loss to the Phillies. 3 in the loss column.

Nova starts against Cleveland Thursday.

Yanks trail the Tribe 3-1 after 5-1/2. Nova pitched the first 5 allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, 3 BB, 4K. Warren started the 6th.

NY has only two hits, a 2B by Headley and a solo HR by ARod.

Tribe wins ... again. This time 7-3. NY has dropped 4-5 to Cleveland keeping Toronto close. Jays can cut the NY lead to a half game if the hang on to their 5-1 lead over ACamp's Angels.

LOOK: Yanks' Jorge Posada gets No. 20 retired, plaque in Monument Park - CBSSports.com

On Saturday prior to their home game against the Indians, the Yankees honored Jorge Posada by retiring his No. 20 and giving him a plaque in Monument Park.

The honor is deserved, as Posada spent his entire pro career with the Yankees (24th round, 1990 draft). Across parts of 17 big-league seasons, Posada batted .273/.374/.474 (121 OPS+) with 275 homers, 379 doubles, and 936 walks. As well, he spent almost 13,000 innings behind the plate; made five All-Star teams; won five Silver Sluggers; and was a vital part of five championship Yankee teams. So, yes, the hullabaloo is very much merited.

Posada is the 19th player to have his number retired by the Yankees. On Sunday, it'll be Andy Pettitte's turn

Tribe Drops Yankees Into Second.

Tribe Drops Yankees Into Second.

Cleveland has NY's number ... It's 39 now.

Pettite was inducted into Monument Park. Yanks should have started Andy instead.

Jays clobber the Angels ... again to take over 1st by a half game.

Yankees Back In First!

Yankees Back In First!

Eovaldi with his 4+ ERA is accustomed to a lot of NYY run support to cover his sizeable ERA. He didn't get it yesterday. He pitched 8 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits while still throwing a 100 mph fastball into the 8th.

But the Yankees bats were largely silent as Houston's Feldman matched Eovaldi gooseeggs allowing no runs and 6 hits through 8 innings. McCann was cut down at the plate trying to score on a fly to center in the 7th.

In the 9th, Miller relieved Eovaldi after 109 pitches and held Houston scoreless. Perez relieved Feldman, 110 ptiches, and walked a batter, threw a WP, then intentionally walked ARod, walked McCann to load the bases, and gave on a sac fly to Beltran for the 1-0 Yankee win. Miller evened his record at 2-2.

NY placed Sabathia on the 15 day DL with a sore knee and Girardi noted he might not be back this season.

Nova pitches Tuesday.

Toronto didn't play Monday.

After losing 5 of last 7 for lack of run production to offset spotty pitching, Yankee picked up a 1/2 game by not playing. Jays lost. Jays lead by 1.5 games.

Severino had another good outing, shutout ball through 6 innings, 4 hits, 3 BB, 6K for his 2nd win. Yankees still have trouble scoring spurns for Severino. He had a 2-0 lead when he was pulled for a pinch hitter in the top of the 7th. NY only had 6 hits but 5 were doubles.

Eovaldi pitches Sunday.

Teixeira still not able to play, sore shin.

Toronto is peddling just as fast..

As of right now you've got to be pretty proud of these guys though.

Cashman has done a heck of a job providing veteran leadership with young talent.. Let's just hope the veterans stay healthy and strong for the back end of this ride.
