go to a national championship this year and lose or go to a BCS bowl and win?

Which would you prefer and which would be better for the program?

Depends. Do they get their a$$es kicked in the natty, or is it a close loss?

I digress, 9-3 with a Champs Bowl win would appease me.

I think i'll take a BCS bowl win, because that means proving we belong. If we get to the nat'l championship game and lose, it'll give the haters one more reason to say we can't run with the big boys. But if we go the a BCS bowl and beat an SEC team or the pac-10, big 10, big 12 champ, whoever we play, we'll prove that ND football is back on its way up.

What video? No, I just didn't like "Cleveland Rocks" as a name. I don't like the song, I think it's stupid, and so I figured I'd embrace arguably the most embarrassing moment in our history. I like it better.

I think it is because he realized that Cleveland does not actually rock.

lies. Cleveland is like an ugly sister. You know she's ugly, and you can make fun of her yourself, but if anyone else makes fun of her... :violent:

Cleveland is more like the Detroit of cities in America.

Back on topic though, I'd rather the BCS and win. Even if we run the table and get into the NC, everyone would point out our top opponents were neutered (USC with restrictions, Stanford with Harbaugh's leaving, Michigan with a new coach/prostyle offense) and we were overrated if we don't take it all. I'd rather some tough losses along the way and end on a high note.

The National Championship Game. Never aim for second best.

But if you pick that you literally would be aiming for second best.

Sorry, I should have said I wouldn't choose either of those choices. I'd aim for the National Championship game and wouldn't show up expecting to lose it. I feel like we should NEVER aim for, or anticipate being second best, ANY team that starts off expecting anything less than perfection has already lost.

I know it's important to be realistic, but its more important to know, nothing becomes reality until it's happened, until then....we have the ability to change anything.

I'd rather lose the NC game. Winning some lower tier BCS game means the team didn't have a good enough season (for whatever reason) to play for all the marbles. Playing for a NC game will generate more program buzz and value.

^this. plus, experience. you can't teach/coach it. being on that kind of stage and it be a learning experience goes a long way.

Oh good point. When I made the thread I was thinking National Championship game myself.

I figured it'd be better for our image but actually running the tables and winning a BCS game would be better.

If we lose the title game, you're right people would just say we didn't play anyone truly hard (see: SEC teams) and thus we were overrated.
