Will we ever be ranked this year?

Title says it all. A LOT of teams "on the bubble" have lost (# 22 FLA) are losing (#23 Air Force) (#21 Oregon Sate) So could ND be ranked this week? If not would a win over Navy do the trick? Oh and just as a reminder for those eternal optimists out there, the Irish need to be ranked 14th or above to be eligible for the BCS or 8th to auto qualify.

Gotta win out through Utah. That is if Utah is in the top 25 still. If we run to a 8-3 record, we will certainly be ranked.

My guess is after the Tulsa game, if we take care of business, should be in the Top25 atleast. Beat Utah and Army and it'll be Top20, almost 15.

Ok, just read this on Clashmore Mike, it says we automatically qualify for the BCS if we have a higher BCS ranking than a conference champion, this could happen in two different conferences the ACC and Big East IMO

We will be ranked after the Tulsa game, but not because we deserve it. It will be better TV when Utah comes to town. IF we beat Utah then we deserve to be ranked.

If ND wins until the Utah, they will most likely be ranked. Mainly because it will look alot better if ND and Utah both face off being ranked.

It will add to ratings. Just reality

Agreed. It likely won't be a high rating unless there's a lot more turmoil in the T25, but if take care of business the next 2 weeks the ratings factor alone will propel us into the bottom of the ranking list.

Let's just hope Utah wins until then - if they can beat TCU and we knock them off, the pundits will have to give us another look.

The truth is we are not really a top 25 team. Of course next year we gonna win National title !!!!!! we wouldnt even be in Conference title game in most cases sad but true.

The only way we should be ranked is if we beat Utah, but like other posters have pointed out, we probably will be ranked if we run off these next two wins against Navy and Tulsa, because the match-up will be sexier.

Are you serious? There is no way in hell that we will be ranked this week, nor should we be. We're 4-3! When we deserve to be ranked, believe me, we will be.

Notre Dame will not be ranked until after Utah at the earliest. 6-3 teams rarely make the top 25. 7-3 teams are a lot more common. Right now the Notre Dame's best assets in the eyes of the voters are its "good losses." If Michigan State and Stanford continue to be highly ranked, Notre Dame should be able to crack the top 25 after Utah. Of course, if Utah knocks off TCU and Notre Dame beats Utah, Notre Dame will easily make the rankings.

yeah that's what i think ... probably after 2 more wins will make the Top 25 before the Utah game, i think we would be 6-3 but i think maybe the 24th or 25th spot by the time we play Utah.

If we beat Utah, then we should deserve a ranking, but I think we're way to inconsistant to accomplish that.

We could easily end up in the top 14 if we ran the table. It wouldn't be shocking if Utah was a top 5 team coming into our game (e.g. if they beat TCU) so that win alone would likely jump us from the #22-25 range to #15-20. And then USC will likely be ranked and much improved by the time we play them so that win would probably bump us into the #12-15 range depending on the losses of teams in front of us.

As cool as that would be, it would be a travesty if this years squad ends up in a BCS game. They're good, and could easily be 6-1 right now, but the critics of ND favoritism would have a field day if we end up in a BCS bowl this year.

I definitely can see us getting are s**t together and finishing the season 9-3 and heading to a good bowl. Since losing Rudolph we had to go back to the drawling board, a win over Western Michigan was nice, i think with another few wins over Navy and Tulsa, we will be back on track. With the set up of Eifert and Ragone we should be fine, not to mention we have a bye week before the Utah game, i can see a hard close win over the Utes. then an easy win over Army (hopefully) :p should get us ready for the Up and Down 2010 USC team.

Eifert had 4 catches for 72 yards and Ragone 1 for 12. If I was coach, I would be satisfied with those contributions. As for blocking and protecting, Ragone looked better of the two yesterday that I saw. Honestly, 5 receptions for 89 yards from your TE is good.

I think we need to beat Utah to get ranked in the top 25. How long has it been since we beat a ranked team? We beat Utah and then there will be no debate. Until then..........

We may be ranked after Tulsa. I think it depends on who loses over the next 2 weeks. For example, Miami may lose to North Carolina, and North Carolina will probably lose to FSU. Some of the teams ahead of us will have to lose, and probably will.

I don't think it'd be that far out of the question for ND to be ranked goin into Utah.

We're probably the best 4-3 team out there. If we beat down Navy and Tulsa convincingly, I say we crack the Top 25.

True and I doubt it will happen. What is more likely is a Big East team playing in the BCS but being outside of the top 20. THAT should be the conversation.

I don't think we get ranked until we can beat Utah. We would be 7-3 at that point and would have proven that we can beat a good football team. We really need to play more consistently before we need to be ranked.

After Navy: unranked
After Tulsa: "receiving votes"
After BYE: ~24
After Utah: ~18
After Army: ~17
After Southern Cal: ~15

Assuming Notre Dame wins out.
