This is much more serious than a lot of people are taking it. It is only going to get worse.

The real question is why didn’t the system work the way it was supposed too?

With cell carriers once their system goes down they are still supposed to be able to call 911 from carries service. (Shows how crooked the networks are). I imagine that there will be a significant fine that AT&T will have to pay.

Somewhat off topic...my parents are quite concerned about an EMP blast knocking out everything electronic in our society. They think the odds of that happening are over 50%. You are all smart. What do you think? One thing I agree with them on, is it would be major chaos and nobody would be able to communicate to find out what happened and what to do next. The communication to society would be the hardest part and cause mass panic. Banks, gas stations, cars, phones, planes, everything...not working.

But not a joke, I actually had enough gray hair by my early 20s that a cashier at a liquor store tried to argue with me that my ID was fake because it said I was only 22.

As someone who works on the network side for a prominent telecommunications company, I assure you that this is far more likely to be a layer 8 issue than anything else...
