I'd like Kasen, DaVaris, Lyons, Townsend, and French.

I also like Richardson, French, Huggins, and Miles Shular.

2 WR 1 Safety 1 OL and then either Huggins, Ishaq, French, Tuitt, Niklas or another safety for BLACKJACK!!!!

I think you take two WR's because Floyd may leave and Daniels/Williams/Shuler are too good to pass up. A safety is still a must and hopefully it is Lyons. Hopefully Richardson fills that OL spot. The great thing about French is that he could play multiple positions. Getting two safety's would be pretty cool.

There's a number of guys I wouldn't mind getting commitments from but the most important I think are DaVaris Daniels, Kasen Williams and Wayne Lyons.

I think most programs in the country have those 3 on their wishlist. Lyons is looking less and less promising. Kasen Williams is announcing in 4 weeks, and Washington is in his backyard. And for Daniels, it's out of Kelly's hands at this point. More realistically, I think we can pull French and Niklas. Huggins or Shuler would be a huge bonus. If French wants to play offense, I say we move on.

My picks:

Daniels
Shuler (CB)
Huggins

I've heard French has the body type to play safety? If he wants to play defense, I say we put the full court press on him

Great read. Everyone asking about limits on players (I am sure this weeks ISD ND Power Hour will discuss it ad nauseum) should take a look before filling up more threads on the topic.

My 0.02 cents:

Minimum 3 more spots - Floyd EE, Paskorz and Walker graduating

Maximum 8 (without getting too far fetched) - Floyd and Rudolph EE, one of the Fr. Qbs transfers...my guess Rees, Eifert reinjured/too much pain in back, Paskorz, Walker, Nwankwo, and Nuss do not come back.

The number will be closer to 3, though other unforeseen problems could cause attrition as mentioned...my guess 5 (S, WR, DL/OL, then hold for big fish like Huggins, Rome, Richardson, etc...that may have late decisions.

With the way this 2011 class is coming together and how much they interact with each other, I can't help but say it reminds me so much of the 2008 recruiting class with dayne. The 2008 class faced a lot of adversity with a 3-9 team, this class has a lot of uncertainty with a new coach, but I think guys like jordan prestwood and now aaron are in the same positions as dayne and guys like jonas gray were at that time.

Remember one of our coaches saying on NSD that I think it was Jonas or someone else calling all the coaches the night beore NSD to make sure everyone was OK.

Is it 9/4 yet?

Article from ISD on Darius Jennigs....

“I called them (Notre Dame) a few weeks back,” recalled Jennings. “Coach (Charley) Molnar is the guy recruiting me and he said it helped me out a lot that I’m showing interest. He said we thought you weren’t interested so that’s a good sign. If they do offer me, I’m definitely going to consider Notre Dame. They thought maybe I wasn’t interested because I didn’t visit this summer, but with them it was just finances and time and I couldn’t get out there.”
Jennings does have a connection to Notre Dame through two previous Gilman recruits that ended up in South Bend. Victor Abiamiri and Ambrose Wooden both Gilman alumni, played at Notre Dame. Jennings has spoken with both.

At 5'11" and 175 lbs this guy would be a great get to fill out our defensive backfield. He is a real athlete. The article goes on about how he has played qb and multiple other positions on the offensive side. He is still skeptical about what side of the ball he wants to play on but if he takes a visit to ND, what kind of shot do we have at landing this kid? And if we dont land Lyons, is it worth it?

I like Huggins but does anyone know where he's got ND on his list.

Huggins is definitely a possibility for the coaching staff. Justice Hayes mentioned that the coaching staff told him they'd be holding a spot for Huggins whether Hayes committed or not.

He's a going to be extremely difficult to get given his offer list/competition.

French has the body type to play DE/OLB, but plays S for his HS team. That is probably what you are thinking of, and yes, it is bizarre.

We need a Big Free Safety type...we have the 5'11 to 6'1 guys in Badger, Hardy, McCarthy....hate to say it but a Taylor Mays Size and of cource speed. I know they dont grow on trees...however that is what we need to target. My #1 worry is Free Safety,,,,way to thin at that position. One thing I did notice is that in last years class they have Roback listed as a Safety he is 6'3 225....anyone have the scoop....?

Taylor Maze is cool and all, but I'd prefer someone more along the lines of Taylor Mays. Like Zibby, he had his downside, but in the end was a player.

At this point I would be happy with any safety. I actually think we need one more safety and one more CB in this class if we can get them. Yeah Gray and Smith have one more year left after this season but that's only if they qualify.

Quincey Aldridge? Blake Countess? Lateek Townsend? Even if Lyons doesn't come, would two of these athletes do?

I think they would do. If no Lyons, Townsend is my second choice. Love that kid great athlete and from what I've read a great person also.

We are currently the only big offer for Quincey and he hasn't made a move. Apparently he's waiting for an offer from one of the Texas schools. I haven't heard much from Townsend after he got his offer. Countess is a solid guy but again, haven't seen much of anything about him recently. Rivals has been trying to work on what's going on for our DB recruiting but haven't been too successful.

Eilar Hardy and Matthias Farley can both play Safety. They have been telling Hardy/Farley that they want them at Corner, but with Jalen Brown coming on, either Hardy or Farley could fill the gap if necessary.

A nice top 4:

Slot: Carlisle (OV 9/11) or Shuler
WR: Daniels/Williams
RB: Huggins
Ath: French

Atkinson Bros. (OV 9/11) are visiting, but I think George is more high on ND than Josh. Hopefully a visit will change those opinions.

If its believed that we will end up with around 20-21 slots in this years class than I believe our final four/five could be:
Realistic
1. Shuler
2. Daniels
3. French
4. Aldridge
5. Niklas

Ideal
1. Huggins
2. French (defensive side)
3. Richardson
4. Williams/Daniels
5. Lyons

Agree with all of those except for Quincy Aldridge. We've been his only big time offer for months, and he hasn't visited or spoken much to the media. Not holding my breath for him, I think he jumps at the first TX school that offers him. Wasn't he hurt last year? Realistically, I think you'd have to say Amir Carlisle for the slot if he gets an offer. Shuler is an 8-ball right now

From Rivals about Aldridge:

Aldridge injured his knee in a scrimmage last summer and has had two procedures on it (most recently in January). It has been a source of concern to colleges.

Your most likely correct. Recently I saw a piece on him that said he was impressed that Notre Dame had still invested time into him and still extended an offer (despite the injury). If schools like A&M and TCU wait around to long, they might wait themselves out of a solid athlete. Im eager to see how his senior season goes on the field, and what kind of loyalty he'll show the Irish.
As for Amir, honestly I'd welcome him with open arms. He's a raw athlete with alot of upside and it would be nice to stick one back to Stanford after Leuders last year. I think alot of what happens with him depends on what happens with Daniels and Williams. I dont think we can afford to take more than two WR.

If TCU or Nebraska offers, I want him more. I love those defenses
