Can someone give an overview of the 2024 class status? Haven't been following at all.
RBs, looking at Xavier Robinson & Kedren Young, both are power back in the same mold of an Estime. Robinson has an OV in place, same as Young. Young has been to campus before and is coming next weekend, IIRC. Then, there is Anthony Carrie, but he’s not a top priority and is trending elsewhere.
WR- the staff looks to be satisfied with the 3 on board, at this time.
TE- Carter Nelson. Whether or not they definitely want two TEs, they are still recruiting him and I believe an OV is set.
OL- Lambert and Prescod. Prescod is making his third visit to campus, and it is believed that the staff will push for a commitment. Lambert is sort of up in the air. He doesn’t do many interviews, so he’s hard to guage even for the reporters. If he doesn’t visit in June, then I believe he’s not an option. But, if he doesn’t commit anywhere during the summer, likely an OV in the fall.
DL- Justin Scott & Elijah Rushing. Sevillano is already part of the class but just hasn’t made it public yet. After Loghan Thomas’ commitment, the defensive staff has backed off of Mylachi Williams, who was likely a PSU lean anyways.
LB- KVA and Chris Cole. They are still recruiting three star Keyshawn Flowers out of Maryland, but he’s likely just someone they are staying in contact with in case either KVA or Cole go elsewhere.
CB- Kaleb Beasley. OV locked in for the Ohio State game. Only target on the board that they are pushing hard for. I’d say it’s 50/50 that he remains with the Vols.
S - Tons of names, but looks like Brauntae Johnson is tending back to ND. Had some academic hurdles to work through, and by accounts, he has cleared them. But will need to stay on top of it as a senior, or else it could be another Brandyn Hillman situation. Other names: Paul Mencke, Davis Andrews, DaJaun Lane. Mencke I think likes ND a lot and is an excellent student. Visited ND in March/April, and is coming back for an OV. Safety recruiting is likely a first come basis, so if he wants in he’ll need to commit soon to secure a spot. Andrews was high on ND early, and looked like a sure commitment, but has since made a few other trips. UCLa & Utah are the competition. Lane has come back around to ND after trending elsewhere for a bit. He too, is hard to read for the reporters, but the fact he came back to ND for a visit in late April was a good sign.
