Who loves to grill?

Don't have a flat top but would have one if I had the money and space for it. If I'm coming steaks or traditional grilling type stuff. I reverse sear it with the offset then feed the fire and and get it nice and hot for the last few minutes to finish it off. Nothing better in my opinion

Just did a Benihana style dinner on the blackstone. Chicken, shrimp, veggies, and fried rice.

Been really struggling to get an even cook on large 1.5+ lbs steaks. It’s either raw on the inside and medium rare on the outer parts or well done on the outer parts and medium rare inside

Might i suggest slicing it into two 12 oz steaks

Can a Blackstone be a replacement for a traditional grill?
Ive done burgers, brats and chicken on one. Worked great. Haven’t done a steak on one yet. But I like the idea of doing breakfast and rice on it as well.

I know my brother in law has done carne asada on one and came out great, but that is much thinner steak. Breakfast is great on it as well.

I have a grill and a Blackstone and I haven't fired up the grill once this year. Traditional burgers, dogs and chicken are just easier on the blackstone plus you can do so many other things on it as well.
Last night we made chicken fajitas on the Blackstone and just ended up throwing some burgers and dogs on there for the kids for the heck of it.

I would not be happy with a grill/smoker combo. It always feels like a suboptimal solution to both parts. I know finances and space dictate a lot about what we purchase but if you're an avid outdoor cooker, I'd suggest buying a dedicated grill or smoker or blackstone then saving up on the side to get the next one.

We have a grill, smoker and blackstone and we enjoy each of them for different reasons. If I need a quick turnaround, party is in 60-90 mins, blackstone or grill. If i have plenty of time to get the smokey flavor and I've prepped early enough, the smoker can be started well in advance and delivers a distinct flavor/moisture profile.

Of course, you can make a combo unit work but I think they often lead to more headaches. I understand everyone's situation is unique. I could do without the blackstone. It's nice to have a big griddle to do fried rice/noodle hibachi-style cooks for multiple families and it can be used for breakfast but it is a big item to be stored, uses a lot of gas and just isn't good build quality. It works for what it is and we enjoy the meals we take off of it.

I've had a PBC for 9 years and I've smoked a hole in the bottom of the steel barrel so it's on it's way out. Currently researching my next smoker and there are loads of options at every price point. I think the best price-value range is in the $800+

One day I'll get an insulated charcoal grill (possibly with rotisserie attachment) but they are expensive and i already have to replace my smoker. The PBC was an excellent way to learn how to smoke meats.

Maybe I’m weird but I only use the grill to sear steak not cook. I’ve never had great luck at getting it right on the grill, too many variables.

Pellet smoker is good if you are learning to smoke. I have a traeger that I found on marketplace. I smoke everything from brisket to burgers. I’ll never grill a burger the traditional way ever again. 225 for 60 minutes!!

One of the boys has a Blackstone. I can see the attraction, but for me, cooking out/grilling means getting the flavor a grill provides. So far in looking at the options, the Pit Boss comes the closes to my needs and price. I'm guessing everyone puts these on sale in a month or two to get rid of them, so I may wait a little longer.

I’ve had an offset smoker for years. I’ve considered it for times sake, but I could never bring myself to buy a pellet smoker. Would fire just tastes better. Plus it allows me to stay outside longer while I wait for my neighborhood bestie Marcus to go on his walk.

From what I have seen you would season the Blackstone, not sure how much that adds to flavor but it seems important

I currently have a cheap gas grill, and a way overpriced Yoder pellet smoker. Looking at getting the Grilla Grills Primate for the grill griddle combo.
