I'm curious about this because I am stunned to see ESPN people talking as if Ohio State is a lock now. Mine:

1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. TCU
4. Florida State

I don't understand the case for Ohio State, but the only one among TCU, Baylor and Ohio State that has an excusable loss is TCU and they looked as good as Ohio State did today.

Watch 'em drop FSU.

I think they have to stick with who they have now. Not that OSU hasn't looked good, but they have the worse loss out of all those teams.

Yes they looked as good as OSU today. The difference is TCU was playing Iowa State and OSU was playing Wisconsin in the Big10 Championship game. BIG difference.

Honestly, though they're undefeated, FSU by far has looked the worst.

Still my top 4 is

Oregon
Alabama
FSU
OSU

As much as I detest tOSU, FSU & Bama...I have to admit I think they're all worthy. My fourth would be Oregon. I'd rank them as follows:

FSU
Oregon
Bama
tOSU

Not saying TCU/Baylor aren't as deserving...it's a tough call. I think this gives the committee a perfect opportunity to punt on the Big 12 most deserving debate. They can avoid it by bumping the Buckeyes up & knocking the Horned Frogs down. That's the most painless for the committee...we shall see. If it goes bananas w/ controversy it will just hasten the expansion to eight teams as early as next season.

but it will be
Alabama

Same. If talking "best" 4 I might drop FSU for Ohio State.

But Ohio State does not deserve to get in. That loss to VT is unforgivable, and on top of that people forget a couple weeks ago they needed OT and some seriously horrific officiating to beat Penn State. They're not as good as people think... nor are TCU or Baylor... and the worst of the 6 in "strength" is the only one who's undefeated.

So I've got your 4, in order.

Will admit I haven't watched a lot of TCU. And I would have put them in until tonight. But what Ohio State did tonight was pretty impressive and their loss was a long time ago now, and looking at at TCU's resume, I see a win over Kansas State and, what, exactly?

The committee is majorly over thinking this

1. FSU
2. Alabama
3. Oregon
4. OSU

FSU hasn't lost a game yet, end of story. The best team wins their games. So what if they didn't look great in all of them they didn't lose a single one and that should be by far the most important criteria. You play to win the games.

Alabama Oregon are interchangeable and it really doesnt matter. Id give the edge to Alabama because they played in the tougher conference.

OSU gets in over Baylor because they have +1 wins. Their loss is slightly worse than Baylors, but it is balanced out by Baylor's terrible SOS and OSU being outright champs.

The committee needs to forget the notion of who is the best team at this point. Thats a joke and completely devalues the regular season.

Really FSU is not one of the 4 best teams but you can't leave them out since they're undefeated and a power-5 champion. But the OSU thing just bugs me because it lets them get away with cheating the system. They play in a conference that is barely a power-5 league. They play a dogshit OOC schedule. I don't care if they beat Wisconsin 100-0, or if they had beat Va Tech. I wouldn't have them in my group.

OSUs OOC is comparable to Baylor and TCU

Baylor next, Ohio State way later.

Why TCU over Baylor:
Simply TCU looks like the stronger team. Better defense and similar offense burst. Baylor has a win over TCU which makes it tough, but it was a 3 point game and could've gone either way.

Why Ohio State way later:
1. Ohio State has the worst loss of the three and it's a bad one.
2. Ohio State has no great wins. Michigan State is meh this year, Wisconsin is one player and lost to our friends Northwestern, and Minnesota is their third best win
3. That win vs Minnesota was won by 1 touchdown and TCU crushed them.
4. They lost their star QB.

Invalid. There are no could've or would've, they played and Baylor won.

Such a oversimplification. They played at Baylor. A three point loss on the road is basically a tie. TCU lost to a much better Baylor team than the West Virginia team that beat Baylor. If Baylor had won at TCU I'd be more inclined to favor Baylor, but they didn't and based on everything else TCU looks better.

Disagree. WVU actually got hot at one point in the season, and that happened to be during the time they played Baylor. And barring a major player not playing, there is nothing you can say that will change my mind on head to head play. They met on the field and Baylor won. That's like saying that Alabama should've played for the title because Auburns Field Goal return was a fluke.

I don't think those two things are analogous, but you're entitled to your opinion, that's why I created the thread. You certainly aren't alone.

WVU was also in every game they lost. They were never out of any game and they played the likes of Bama, Oklahoma, Baylor, KState, TCU (which TCU won on a FG with time expiring). WVU was and is a tough team. They gave everyone fits this year.

Yep, a lot of different opinions, and it'll be interesting to see what is chosen. Regardless though, there will be controversy.

I also think that until they go to atleast 8 there will always be issues.

They looked like crap against Oklahoma and Texas. But yeah, other than those two.

If we're talking about strictly the BEST I'm taking:
1. Oregon
2. Alabama
3. TCU
4. OSU/Baylor (tough call though I'd be inclined to take Baylor over OSU)

FSU will get in though, even though they've looked like garbage in almost every single one of their wins. But they haven't lost so kudos to them even though that team has now taken over as my most hated team in sports, well aside from the Bears (f**k Chicago).

I think the committee will end up going:
1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. TCU
4. FSU

How are they not though? Auburn had a worse loss that year and the win against Bama was clearly flukey. If you look at the TCU Baylor game, the real fluke was that TCU was in the game at all. Even when Baylor was down big, they were statistically dominating the game and a few special teams plays and turnovers had given TCU their big lead.

Anyway, I don't see how any playoff system can ignore head to head. After all, if h2h didn't count, we'd all be speaking German...

Oklahoma's loss makes me think that Ohio State might have the best case to be in. Their loss came on the first game of the year and their wins over Sparty and Wisconsin are at least as good as TCU's wins over KSU and Oklahoma.

ETA:

What I think it will be

1.Bama
2.Ducks
3.TCU
4.FSU

What I think it should be

1.FSU
2.Ducks
3.Bama
4.OSU or Baylor

Yea, Texas was a bad loss for sure but they were still within 10 points with 5 minutes to go. And they were right there with Oklahoma towards the end of the game until Oklahoma scored late.

They were just a pesky team this year...wish their record was more indicative of that.

But the Big XII is about 40x better than the B1G.

No way. Both are mediocre and top heavy.

OSU (12-1) Wis (10-3) MSU (10-2) Minn (8-4) Neb (9-3)

vs

Baylor (11-1) TCU (11-1) KSU (9-3) OK (8-4) WVU (7-5)

Very similar, plus Big12 OOC was complete garbage. The best Big12 OOC win was Minnesota......from the Big10

One thing that is very clear to me is that, had the season gone like we all hoped it would after FSU, an 11-1 Irish team would not even be in the playoff discussion this year.
