Great job again Lisa. Vagas was definitely towards the top of the list for me. I didn't realize I had missed Devon McDonald's article. So I got to read two excellent articles this morning.

Please don't tell me that you are saving Stonebreaker for last.

Stoney has been less than kind to me, actually, not sure if he'll do one. I'm still trying but he's been less than receptive. Sorry. :(

Cheers!

Thanks for the article on Mr. Next Man In!

Some of the younger members may finally realize that Alford didn't invent ND recruiting in Florida, the term "RKG" may belong to Kelly but he wasn't the first to recruit "a certain kind of kid" to ND. Leahy did it, Parshegian did it, and Vinny Cerrato excelled at it ( except for Moss and the other kid).

Great piece!

Where Are They Now? Brian Hamilton

No Coast Bias Where Are They Now? Brian Hamilton | No Coast Bias

Cheers!

This was pretty cool:
“My favorite memory of coach Holtz came after my football career at ND was over. Coach and I talked at an event in South Bend during the Blue and Gold game weekend. He had a gathering for all of his former players that were in town. He took time out to make sure he spoke to each and every guy and their families. At that time, I was President of the Notre Dame Club of Indianapolis. I asked him if he would come and speak at the Universal Notre Dame night for our club. Coach said he would be more than happy to as long as he could fit it into his schedule in the spring. We talked a little while later and he was able to attend the event. Because of his presence we quickly sold the place out. It was just like old times. He spoke for over an hour even though it felt like only 15 minutes had passed. I don’t think many coaches would do that for a former player. When he was recruiting his players I guess he truly meant if you give me 4 years I’ll give you 40.”

Reminds me of a story my grandpa tells how Lou took time away from his busy schedule during a game in Hawaii to meet our family. Just a great guy and very personable.

I miss Lou...

Q: What is your favorite Lou Holtz memory/story?

A: “My favorite Lou Holtz memory was when he was getting us ready for the 1988 “One Shining Moment” game against Miami, that we won 31-30. This has to be the best Lou Holtz quote ever.”

“In Lou’s pregame pep talk he told us, ‘You have an afternoon to play, a lifetime to remember. But I want you to do one thing: You save Jimmy Johnson’s *** for me.’”

“Of course it sounded great and we were all about delivering Johnson to Coach Holtz, but honestly, there is no way Coach Holtz could have taken Jimmy Johnson (laughs).”

Wonderful article. What a joy to read. Watching Randy excel on the field as a true freshman seems like yesterday. Love the Lou quote..."give me 4 years and I will give you 40"

Liked this quote:

“It was really important to the coaches that every player knew they were an equal. Whether you were a first string quarterback or a walk-on, everyone’s effort and contribution was extremely important and a high level of production was expected from everyone. By doing this you eliminate the egos. If you let yourself not perform to your highest level you not only let yourself down but your teammates as well. I think training in this manner translates well onto the field. We had first round draft picks come out of that team, but for us as a team we never looked at anyone as a “star.” And those guys never felt they were better than everyone else. If I blocked for Julius (Jones), I was just as happy as if I was making the running play myself.”

Thats some camaraderie. I also liked seeing what Yura is doing to create jobs in his area and create US made apparel.

Thanks for posting!
