The memory of my exclamation that "it's a Patrick" ("it's a Megan" would have been fine with me) when my child was born. It was a long row to hoe, more for my wife than me as you can imagine, but it wasn't easy for me, either. Between her growing girth and all the pillows she preferred in the later stages I wound up on the bedroom floor more than once.

Cooking for her in light of her ever changing wants, cravings and unforeseen sudden dislikes was a challenge. I gained more weight than she in the early days by eating meals she rejected because I'd sliced carrots in thin "coins" rather than in a slender chiffonade.

Our boy was more than worth it.

Making the last payment on kids braces for the third time. However, will start another stretch of payments next month, #4. Two more years then gear greasing again.

Oh! Almost forgot! Eldest son getting back from Afghanistan last Friday was nice. Plus he will be based closer to here after his re-up. I will get to see the grandson more.

-Sleeping in
-Taking the perfect sized nap. Not too long where you wake up feeling even worse than you did before you took the nap, and not too short where you wake up and still feel tired

Can you tell that I'm friggin' tired?

Quiet moments with my wife on the back deck watching the sun set
Watching my girls excel in math and science and sports...the boy domains...:).
Watching one of my young QBs march his team down the field totally based on him making reads at the LOS...then the smile on his face, and that nod of recognition.
Archery Hunt
working my bird dogs
and of course ND Saturday

My faith in youth has been restored. I'm sitting in the drive up lane at McDonalds to get an ice tea. It's one of those with two lanes where you alternate. I place my order and move up a little for the person behind me. The girl in the other lane just finished ordering after I pulled up. She then tries to squeeze in front of me. I look at her and she says sorry go ahead. I tell her to go ahead (as her bumper is cutting me off). I finally pull up to the pay window and the clerk tells me the girl in front of me paid for it. I pulled up behind her, honked and waved a thank you to her. Not enough kids like that around anymore.

She probably paid extra to have them spit in your tea....

Does not compute.

Seriously though, good for them and good for you.

Having the morning completely off - no laundry to do, no dishes to do, and nothing to clean. Just a nice few hours of quiet while boyfriend and son are at college/school.

Sitting here in my office hanging out on I.E., Gameday is on TV, the early morning sun is bright and warm coming in through the window, I have a hot cup of coffee, and one of my dogs is curled up at my feet.

Life is awesome!!!

Waking up and reaching over to my bedside table grabbing my FAT doobie I rolled the night before and firing that bitch up! Lean back over and grab my Guinness and Jameson and chug those and sit in bed all damn day. Maybe scratch my balls a few times and shoot a few loads while I'm at it!

Livin the high life!

(Of course most of the above is not true)

Take my chain saw in to get a new chain and they clean the saw and put the chain on, no charge. That kind of service is hard to find.
