Glen Hughes entering Keith Richards territory. Don't know how he's still doing it.

This song reminds me of where I grew up. Love having couple cool ones, playing it on guitar and singing it. My favorite song at the moment.

Listened to Major Tom and saw this pop up in the suggestion bar. One of my favorite song performances ever. Probably cuz Mara is a dead ringer for my one that got away... not the prettiest one but an absolute filthy minx. Oscar Issac's a pretty talented dude btw.

I am currently reading Love & Pain, The Epic Times and Crooked Lines of Life Inside & Outside silverchair.

This is a story told about the band by drummer Ben Gillies and bassist Chrish Joannou.

Any silverchair fans on this board? It's a shame we will likely never get a 6th album. Daniel Johns is an amazing musician.

Their first 4 albums are all different- Frogstomp, Freak Show, Neon Ballroom, & Diorama

There is nothing like the 90's!

Zach Bryan is the truth. What a hell of a songwriter.
Oddly enough, I think the first time I ever heard a Zach Bryan song was when Tommy Rees of all people tweeted the song he did last year with Maggie Rogers (who is also awesome). Now he's in my ears constantly. Thanks Tommy.

I remember Frogstomp really making a splash as their debut.

Yes it made a huge splash, the lead guitar has grown on me, but I was impressed with the lead guitar for a 15 year old at that time on their song 'Tomorrow'

Lyrically Neon Ballroom is my favorite album, musically Diorama is my favorite album, but those first 4 albums are damn good.

I'll have to check out the stuff after Frogstomp. I remember being really high on them when it came out but it was so late to the scene for a Seattle sounding band. Cobain was long gone by the time they showed up and I was moving away from Seattle into Rage & Jeff Buckley by the mid 90's.

Israel's Son played on my playlist yesterday on the way to work. That sound is pure Soundgarten with a Cobainish sound replacing Cornell on vocals.

One thing you have to recognize is their age. Tomorrow might be the greatest single ever put together by 14-15 year olds.

The first music video I saw of theirs was Abuse Me off of Freak Show. What I loved most about silverchair is that they used more than guitars, bass, & drums; even on Freak Show.

The opening baseline to Israel's Son is pure grunge and sets the tone for the whole Frogstomp album.

I agree with you about their age- no one in music at that time of their age was doing what silverchair did. The piano in Emotion Sickness (Neon Ballroom) is theatrical and I love the work they did with Van Dyke Parks with their orchestra arrangements.

Daniel Johns & their drummer Ben has put out music post silverchair, but there was something magical about each silverchair album where it didn't sound like the previous album.

Fingers crossed one day for that 6th album

Other 90's artists-- I am a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan (their first 5 albums are great), Foo Fighters (my wife and I went to the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in LA), Better Than Ezra (new album drops in May) & Collective Soul (new album drops in May).

The 90's pop rock, alternative/grunge, British rock, orchestra rock was great & still sounds good.

Love Better Than Ezra. Very underrated. Great vocals and songwriting. LSU boys IIRC

BTE puts on a great show & is very underrated. Their album How Does Your Garden Grow reminds me of the Pumpkins Adore album and Radiohead's Paranoid Android- F.U. to rock & roll with different sounds. The last time I saw BTE the lead singer brought up how ND beat LSU in the bowl game. Their album Closer is probably my favorite.

I Wonder is my favorite of theirs. Also a cool music video:

Reminds me a lot of the video for “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” by the Smashing Pumpkins.

For the Blind Melon fans... you can find this on DVD (maybe Blue Ray too?) and it sounds great on your system.

Have you guys watched the "all I can say" documentary? It's pretty good but doesn't add as much as I hoped. The behind the music is really good, too. I just started reading this book and love it so far. Really paints a much fuller picture

Saw them play at a club in ‘01. I was lukewarm on going, but went because my girlfriend wanted to go. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

They actually recorded the ND fight song w/ bagpipes but I want to say I recall hearing they do not particularly care for ND? Hope I’m wrong.

While it’s not my favorite BTE song I like that “Juicy” doesn’t sound like their early stuff. Definitely grows on you.

I'm not sure, but Dropkicks are like the house band of BC. They play BC's fight song - "For Boston" - at concerts in Boston all the time.

BC has this deep hold on the imagination of working-class Irish Boston - the world from which the Dropkicks come - that I guess dates to the days when it was the only school around here that didn't look down on Irish Catholics. Even though today it's mostly a leafy suburban school for kids from New Jersey. I have a deep-Boston-Irish friend who (jokingly) calls me a race traitor for being a BC-loathing Domer. I'd guess in "Holy War" that mainly exists in the mind of BC fans, the Dropkicks see themselves as BC people.

All that said, the Dropkicks first album, in particular, is fucking awesome. They switched lead singers and got a little more commercial as they got older and better-known, but Do or Die is a classic.
