Is it possible to lose to Michigan??? We have arguably the best wide receiver, best tight end in the country, top 5 linebacker in the country, a solid offensive line and running backs with tremendous amount of experience, oh and not to mention a 5 star quarterback................



Oh and Brian Kelly as our coach. And we're playing at home. Seems like an automatic win doesnt it?

Michigan has ZERO and I mean ZERO experience at the DB position. Matter of fact I believe 2 true freshman and a redshirt sophomore are starting back there and not to mentinon the fact that wide receivers are their backups. And Michigan runs a 3-3-5 base defense.(which to me is THE WORST DEFENSE EVER!!!!)

We shredded their defense last year and that was when they had Warren and Wolfolk.

So should'nt we autmatically win this game??? Statistics say we should.

This is the MOST important game of the year for me because I FUCKING DESPISE MICHIGAN. Everything about these bitches make me sick. We NEED to win this game dammit. I dont even give a two shits about Purdont right now. I got wolverine on the brain.

As with any loss... I'm pissed. And as with any loss to the scum from Ann Arbor ... I'm pissed and usually drunk.

I know it's one of those match ups where as ESPN loves to put it "anything can happen", but Michigan (especially under that transcendent footballing mind Rich-Rod) worries me about a little as I can remember from a U of M team. Basically I'm fully expecting ND to win... which now that I think of it make me worry a little...

I'm not saying this will happen but what if they are so good this year in a few games that they just roll some people. Would you want to call off the dogs? My answer is no way -no how-let it rip- and remember what has been done to you in the past. They had no mercy on Notre Dame and Notre Dame didnt ask for any. If this years team is in a position to bury someone, 'shovel on the dirt'. I'm not saying they will be good enough to do this but if they are I say make a statement. It will be a sign that someone got the memo.

I agree. Not only for the above reasons but also they have to make statements to get ranked. beating a team 28-10 is a good win, but if you can beat that same team 45-10 then go for it. Especially after the last few years when people hopped on the train to be let down. Make a statement and bury someone if possible

This is a game that could get us ranked actually, if we blow out purdue ( im talking HUGE like 42-7) and then beat this team into the dirt (as in "crist comes out in the early 4th quarter" kind of beating, i see no reason why we wont be ranked going into MSU, (if we arent by then and win THAT game, i will be calling for a top 25 spot)

New to Irish Envy. Hello everyone. Been reading for several years. Jumped on after seeing NDOM post. Being an Irish fan in West Mi i despise the maize and blue. They can't lose to Michigan this year. I'm actually more worried about Sparty than Mich. I agree with NDOM, We should run up some points on them! But can we stop anyone! We'll find out soon enough. Dying for Sept 4th!

Also, we can take up an at large bid if we are 14th or above in the BCS, which generally happens because of the money ND will bring to the respective bowl. Eighth or above and we are guaranteed a spot.

They are going RB and QB by committee, which is never a good thing. DickRod said recently that Devin Gardner will not be red-shirted, eh?, which means he plans to use him, at least part time. Kelly has done more with much less than ND has on the second team, so I think things will be good.

The scary part is I think ND will be a monster come the end of the season. If we can navigate the early schedule then its BCS or bust imo.

PS: I don't care if we lose every game this year, have to beat Michigan.

We have a Top 5 linebacker? When did this happen? And don't tell me Manti Teo. He played exceptionally well, last year.............. for a freshman. But Top 5 in all of college football, coming into this season? That's a serious stretch! He certainly has the potential to be one of the Top 5, but he ain't there yet!

There is NO WAY we lose to Michigan. I still have that bitter taste from losing to them last year, a game they should not have won. I've been counting down the days for the payback we will exact upon them this year. I don't want to just beat them, I want to crush their will to live.

Couldn't agree more!! This is the biggest concern that I have. Playing early in the year is always susceptible to mistakes, let alone a whole new system (offense and defense). I have confidence they CAN will, but playing sloppy in a new system is a major concern for me. If this were later in the season I don't think I'd have a worry in the world. But as it stands now, this game still scares me!!

Last year I thought for sure we'd hammer Michigan, and then I saw them play their first game and I joined Phork in telling everyone that the game scared the crap out of me. And with some MAJOR help from the refs they beat us. I've never felt more violated as a fan after that game, but I digress. A loss is a loss is a loss, and they've had all year to rub it in our faces. I for one will not take this game lightly at all.

Having said that, I expect a win, considering their defensive woes in the secondary. We just need to see of our defense is as improved as we hope it will be. Because right now, it's all HOPE and nothing else.
