Just wanted to post real quick and find out what color of panties all of these wannabe, fair weather fans for the Irish we have on this forum would like for Christmas? Three games and it's "Brian Kelly sucks!" Really? REALLY? You people need to get a serious dose of realism and wake up. New programs take time to mature and tailor to their needs and system. You think the spread option runs as effectively with a semi-mobile QB as it does with a dual threat? You think average speed on defense is enough to cut it? No. But you know what, it is what it is right now so either suck it up and prepare for an up and down season while we cut our teeth or go buy a (whatever college team is the "in" thing right now) t-shirt.

Notre Dame is like that same old store that just stays in business with the sign in the front window that says "Under new management" but its still the same store. Oh well I guess. On to another loss against Stanford.

coming from a lifelong ND fan with many relatives at the school, theres no such thing as a fair weather ND fan right now, because were really not that great. I love this team because of what i HOPE they can do in the future, but if people were really fair weather fans theyd go over to the Boise or Tex or Alabama boards, the reason you perceive some people as fair weather is the way they show their sadness or anger, usually saying things that even they know isnt 100% true, perfect example is last week against UM, we get run over by an impressive QB, everyone is sad, and angry because a loss is a loss, but no one on this site thought that ND had no chance ever after that game. By thursday, i guarentee all people will be worried about is andrew luck, and what the next funny video on the "awesome video thread" will be

Look at Nick Saban's first year at Alabama. It's not like ND is getting blown out. They are competitive and are just missing a couple playmakers on defense. I'm not giving up on this team. This will be a long tough season. But hopefully they keep getting better as the season goes on. I'm sticking it out.

Well, with regards to fair weather fans, that is slightly untrue. Notre Dame is and always has been one of the most popular teams in college football, but is always the most popular team in the country for casual college football fans. Much like the Yankees are the default choice of anyone wanting someone to root for in MLB, ND is the default answer whenever someone asks "So, who do you like in college football?" In this media savvy world we live in, this is changing to a certain degree, but it's always been that way. They are very visible and so they get the band wagon folks.

My point was, it's always hard to tell who are the band wagon folks and who aren't. Naturally, you would assume that band wagon and casual fans who don't know or care much about the sport wouldn't take the time to come to a forum and post...but you never know. It's my humble opinion that nearly everyone on this board is an educated, well meaning fan of college football in general and the Irish in particular. However, when after three games, you start seeing threads about how people "can't stand it anymore" and "Kelly sucks just as bad as the others" it's kind of ridiculous. Have some faith people. The boat is leaking some water and has been for quite some time, but that doesn't mean it's sinking...nor does it mean we just says screw it and jump overboard. You're either a fan and can handle the good and bad times or you're not.

I'm not trying to name call or flame anyone. But, venting after a loss and trying to discuss intelligently what went wrong is different than people getting banned recently for stupid comments, people making dumbass comments like "Kelly sucks" after three games, and people claiming this team is terrible. We haven't seen enough of the product to really know what it is...not to mention, give the man time. Kelly is a better head coach than Willingham and Weis put together (in a strange, yet horribly grotesque patched together Frankenstein of two wildly different bodies). His record speaks for itself. He has won at the collegiate level. He has won a Division II National Championship. Yes, it was Division II...but he knows what it takes and what it feels like to win it all in the league he was in.

Some may say Weis was the same because he possesses Super Bowl rings. In a way, that is true...but he was a coordinator. Not a head coach, not a General Manager...just one part of the machine that made the whole great. Kelly has a proven track record of developing winners, developing good quarterbacks, and turning programs around. Is it going to happen overnight? Hell no. But the point here is, all these threads going around about how terrible we are and whether or not Kelly is doing a good job or not are really pointless after three games. It's all negativism...nothing positive. So, you know...it's like Tallahassee said in "Zombieland"..."It's time to nut up or shut up."

And I ain't wearing no panties. Going straight nude...all the time. Bring on the citations for indecent exposure!

BTW: This forum has the best fans and posters out there.
