totally serious.

Little kids wear kid sized clothes. The difference in costs when they grow into adult sized clothing is huge. My boys were in adult sizes by 8th grade. Plus, its tougher getting away with Kohls when they want American Eagle.

Litle kids play Saturday sports at the YMCA or church leagues for around $100 a season. Older kids play club ball and no matter what sport, its a huge jump. I estimated once we spent over $30,000 total for club soccer for one kid over the 10 years he played.

Older kids can work but that is really a drop in the bucket when you consider how little time they have between school and sports (or whatever extras they do). My kids paid their own car insurance and spending money.

High school is the killer. I spent $2000 on senior year. Prom, homecoming, yearbooks, senior ad, senior pictures, class ring, graduation announcements, graduation parties etc. it was a bloodletting

i would rather have gone without the child credits from 0-5 years and had them 15-20:)

With daycare costing approx 600/month, and now private schooling kindergarten at about 430/month (it's actually cheaper than daycare).......we'll take the moolah gladly.

well, that's true. Didn't think about daycare. I stayed home until everyone was in school because my entire teacher salary would have gone to daycare for two kids.

But those years between 6th and college??? ouch

and here in Georgia, everyone can get free pre school due to the lottery. If you can find a spot at a place you want

Our esteemed leaders want to spur the economy on by putting a quick 150 billion out there (I call it trickle-up economics). The payout will go like this
A single taxpayer-600.00
Married-1,200
Married, one kid=1,500
Married, two kids-1,800

Although, I do believe it will be owed come next tax season. Which is why it could be considered a short term, interest free loan.

Welcome to the world of free give-aways, and people wonder why our economy is hurting.......Hello!!! By doing this, even the democrats are publicly admitting (de facto) that having money in taxpayers hands is better than the government spending it!
I'm surprised that they don't want to try and tax us out of a recession, God forbid. :werd:

:soapbox:

This one I threw in for good measure......

If there was a way to not have ~75% of tax dollars (my arbitrary number) wasted, things would run a lot smoother.

It's simply the feds trying to jumpstart the economy by getting the money into people that spend it......US (the consumers). It's a good idea, and has support from both sides of the aisle. Frankly, it's one of the smarter moves by ANY politician in a while. Actually, it is nice to see that our fearless leaders are able to put aside differences and get something done.

I think I will go move back to SoCal with that money, the lower interest rate and the increased limit in jumbo loans  .

Well, I was going to do it anyway, those 3 things just make it much more plausible (less foolish). Now, can I sell my house for more than I owe?

Not trying to start another politics/taxation debate, but many economists believe FDR's hundreds of "new deal" programs kept the depression raging for far longer than it had to.

It wasn't a bad idea, just too much of a 'good deal'. Problem is that things get out of control.

I will invest all the rebate into a college fund for my 3 month old, ND will be really expensive by the time she graduates.

Yeah I've had my car a while but a few years back it was falling apart... It's in good shape now but could still use a tweak or two...

I was thinking something more along the line of window scoops, hood scoop, racing stripes, Mustang wheel caps, etc.

It already has an ND license plate instead of the normal Indiana one though, so we're all good there.
