The Moore thread got me thinking (lol) about regional food,… Moving to ‘The South’ (or at least much closer to it depending on your take) I find I have to be carful ordering tea. I love Southern food and such, a lot, but I freakin hate sweet tea. Get that pancake syrup bullshit away from me and get me a regular tea with lemon!! I’m three plus years into this and still forget to specify ‘unsweet’ tea. I choke every time I accidentally drink that nastiness.

Fin.
I know people who order normal southern sweet tea and add sugar to it

So I’ve been dieting pretty hard the last 2 months and I had a fuck it all moment last night. I wound up making the greatest diabetes inducing sandwich ever. Started by turning raisin bread into French toast, 3 strips of bacon, fried bananas in the bacon grease, layer of peanut butter and slather of grape jelly.
Woke up on the couch at 3 am, sweating violently.

Bringing sides to a party tomorrow.

-Already made pasta salad (it’s better after a day)

THANK YOU. I don't think people do this enough with that or potato salad and what not. Give it a day to let it join hands and make a joyful noise.

is this a pizza chain in some region here in the states because i've never heard of it before. a great pizza chain around here in central Indiana that everybody raves about including me is arni's as they not only have great pizzas but great salads also
It’s a bar/restaurant on the South East side in Wanamaker not too far from the county fairgrounds. Has all kind of Franklin Central old high school football photos and plaques hung in the walls. Supposedly known for its pizza. It’s pretty good.

My mother, however prefers Brewski’s pizza which is right down the street from New Bethel Ordinary

And Aunt Polly’s has moved around a few times but is currently at English and Emerson not too far from Christian Park. This has been around forever…probably the first pizza that I ever ate. Nice thing about Aunt Polly’s is it usually open at like 3 or 4am if you’re a late partier. Breadsticks are awesome too.

Had pizza from The Ordinary Friday.
We went to Brozini’s in Speedway on Saturday afternoon I forgot to add (a lot of pizza for me over the weekend). Didn’t realize that the Emerson location was closed for remodeling. When is that supposed to open back up?

They probably have my favorite pizza here locally. Jacks, too, for delivery is right up there but don’t think that they go to Wanamaker. Also, Jackamo’s I think is the most overrated pie around and Pizza King down here in Greenwood is awful.

Made some homemade chorizo and 80/20 burgers last night,… took the last two pattys and diced them up and added them to my beans that have been smoking for a few hours already ,… should be killer

Just had a well regarded Cali style seafood food truck in town. They did Cajun style catfish po boys on top of all the Baja stuff and I thought it looked good. Man alive, this might have been the best po boy I’ve ever had. Crazy good, I ate it up but here’s a picture of the same sandwich from their fb page:

The El Paso food scene is pretty good but not for what you’d think,… the Mexican is good but outdone by a lot of the southwest,… but this city does not mess around with high quality:

-Gastro pubs
-Food Trucks
-Vietnamese food of all things
-one of the best Italian joints I’ve been to anywhere

I’ll be out there again in November and have been a few times. Yes, I concur, was looking forward to the food and came away disappointed.

My customer is building another big ass building in El Paso. If you know folks looking for jobs, I can probably help. I remember you saying you were an educator.

I have an Army buddy who is about to retire who might be looking... PM me if that sounds like a fit.

Yeah, the mex is def worse than you would expect. It's good but not if you are used to LA or even Phoenix, places like that. HIt me up when you come out and give the general area,... I'll try to give you suggestions...

Found this little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant and grocery. It’s a place I could never convince my wife to try until my son convinced her. It’s not like all the Mexican restaurants around the city. That was about a month ago. We’ve ate there about five times since. Lol

Christian Park next to Bar 52 has some real Mexican. Little Mexican grocery store/restaurant on Stop 11 and Madison had the good stuff too. Closed now though.

Where? Because I’m interested

About a month ago our cherry trees gave us a couple of tubs of cherries, so we made a homemade cherry pie. Last night the wife made a blackberry cobbler from the berries off our two blackberry plants. First time we got berries off either in two years. The apple tree has a ton of fruit on it, so we should have apple pie in September.

Are you not going to tell us if the pies were any good???

FYI I will head your way in September for the apple pie 😁
