Aha, so I might be able to get Bourbon County Coffee and/or Rye tomorrow. Anybody try either of them?

Also, 2013 Domaine Forcal Real Grenache Carignan Syrah blend. Bouquet with hint of licorice. Fruity, a little tart, and a little bit acidic. Pretty good for $12 bucks.

Stone Enjoy By 12/25/15. Damn this release is good (much better than the last one). Lots of tropical fruit, melon and citrus. Some pine and herbal bitterness underneath.

Perfect! I just saw it for the first time today but wasn't ready to pick up another sixer in case it was a batch like 10/31.

I'm onto a light dinner of prosciutto, wheat bread, and 2013 Château de la Ragotière Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine. Very light and crisp. Almost too easy to drink.

It isn't the best Stone Enjoy By that I have had, but it has significantly more fruit than the 10/31/15 release and also has less of the herbal bitterness. Overall a win and worth a purchase.

I will make sure to pick some up either tomorrow or Wednesday

Checked with my local stores and unfortunately none of them know of any special releases in MI. You have any luck today?

Nah, a shipment will come in Wednesday, but I have to work so I might not be able to swipe any.

The Grenache blend from last night and then some more McKenna Bottled in Bond

I got a bottle of Koval bourbon yesterday. They're a distillery out of Chicago. It's OK, doesn't taste like most traditional bourbons. It has a much fuller, spicier taste. Rubbery is how I can beat describe it and that's not a negative description. It's good, but not quite worth $50.

The wife and I visited Port City's tasting room at their brewery in Alexandria, VA. Lots of good stuff. Good IPA. God DIPA. Good Oyster Stout. Good holiday blond ale. Good black IPA. Good APA. Well, you get the idea. The only downside was being surrounded by yuppies carrying yoga mats.

Well I have tomorrow to go to Central Market and try my luck at picking up a few bottles of Bourbon County. If I strike out, I may just buy some grappa as consolation. I also was told that I am to be invited to a private tour of the new Live Oak canning facility hosted by the brewers. That should be mighty fun.

Bought a Stone Cali-Belgique IPA and Three Floyd's Alpha Klaus today.

Excited about the stone as I'm a big fan of Hoegaarden (and similar Belgian beers) and stone IPA's so should be a nice mix.

I love Sculpin but I think that Victory at Sea might be Ballast Points best beer.

...and I second that!

I just heard from the Karl Strauss rep today that Ballast Point sold to Corona for 1 beeeeeelion dollars last month Sorry if that is above in the thread. I don't know how I missed that in the news. (I just checked goog's, it did... tall bank!). So you guys will get some level of BP nationwide soon enough and it really is a good example of SoCal's beer scene. I hope they do not suffer from the national distribution decline that Lagunitas IPA has.

I had two pints of Mother Earth Boo Koo IPA. My favorite craft anywhere. Can't be beat.

During tonight's SoCal HS football roundtable at BWW the Karl Strauss rep passed around bombers of Big Barrel IIPA, Mosaic Session Ale and Black Ball Belgian IPA.

I have never been a big fan of Karl Strauss in the past. There is too much fantastic beer in Cali to be had than to settle for less. That being said, Big Barrel IIPA is bombtastic. It has a fruity Grapefruit/Melon scent that makes it sooo smooth for a IIPA and is a real sneaker at 9%. I would say it's Hangar 24 Betty with more aroma and flavor even though it's a IIPA vs an IPA. It's a buy/trade for sure and it's the beer you can buy as a guy and still have your chick dig it because of its bouquet/flavor. As a IIPA it's an absolute winner and a great date beer if your SO has an affliction to good/strong crafts.

Now at home, I had 2 bombers of Stone Enjoy by 12.25. (Just me or is this not as good as the last 3 dates?)

I'm now on the first of 3 Lagunitas Cappuccino Stouts. How did I never have this either????? 9.2% of deliciousness!! I scored these at Costco in Laguna Hills for $2.50 a bomber. Going back in the morning to buy all that is left. Fantastic at 3x that price!

Cheers!

I did not know that. I hope that their quality doesn't drop.

I 100% agree with you about Karl Strauss and about Big Barrel IIPA (by far their best beer).

I somewhat disagree with you about 12.25. I think it is much better than 10.31 but not as complex as some of the previous releases.

Lastly you need to post more often in this thread.

Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout. Big time coffee, some figs, milk and milk chocolate. Pretty good.
