Just opened it. Cameron Hughes Lot 464 Zinfandel Lodi 2012. I picked it up for $6 or 7 from Costco. Blackberry and boysenberry are the big players with a little gaminess/meatiness. Still a little cold for my taste so I will add my thoughts again if it changes as it warms up.

I hear the rule of thumb is take whites out of the fridge/cooler half an hour before serving and put reds in the fridge/cooler half an hour before serving. Is that your standard procedure?

For me it depends on the white. I like Rieslings to be colder (so take out maybe 10 minutes before) but with something like a Chard, 20-30 minutes (depending on the temp in the house) works. For reds it depends, on a good Cab, I might put it in 30 minutes before drinking, but for a cheaper wine, I might go 1 hour. I find that most reds need a little air anyways, so I can pour it into a glass and let it sit for a couple of minutes to air out. Overall that rule seems about right, especially if you are using a fridge, if you are using a wine fridge which keeps the wine at proper temps (say 55 degrees or so) then you can get away with opening a little more quickly.

Also I bought a bottle of Stone Farking Wheaton Stout 2015. This years release is mostly newly brewed stout with a little of 2014's release aged in bourbon barrels and blended in. Going to save it for when my father-in-law visits along with a few other beers.

I am not a huge fan of Devotion and I generally find Lost Abbey to be over priced though Deliverance, Serpent Stout, and Cuvee De Tomme are very good.

As it warms up, flavors of Cranberry and under-ripe cherry come to the front. A little raspberry and strawberry as well.

ETA: A little sweet for my taste (I like some earthy notes) but not bad for the price.

I am not a huge fan of Devotion and I generally find Lost Abbey to be over priced though Deliverance, Serpent Stout, and Cuvee De Tomme are very good.

Since we don't get Lost Abbey in MI, I picked up anything I could find when Iwas in ATL. I liked judgment day when I had it, deliverance too but devotion isn't my cup of tea.
