Stone Enjoy By 9/5/16 unfiltered or another beer?

If the Stone Enjoy By, it is definitely going to Texas.

Stone Enjoy By 09.05.16 Unfiltered IPA | Stone Brewing

Also
Stone's 20th Anniversary IIPA Citracado (because of Citra hops and avocado flower honey) shipped earlier this week and should be showing up places in the next week or two.

ETA: or did you mean the Stone Bastard's Midnight Brunch?

The Stone Bastard's Midnight Brunch?
bastardbrunch_logo.png

If so, yes I had a bottle right after it came out. It was good but not worth the price, though it may benefit from some aging (I found that the certain flavors dominated and it didn't feel balanced).

Having said that it was still enjoyable just fell short of expectations based off of price and it being a Stone product and a little time in the bottle might have helped it.

Oh sorry, yes that's the one I meant. I can definitely sit on it for a while if you think it will help. Thanks for the tip. Heading to da U.P. today eh. Hopefully can try a couple new breweries.

Picked up a 12 pack of Lagunitas 12th of Never. It is a Pale Ale/Low ABV IPA (5.5%). Also it is in cans.

I also picked up another bottle of Almanac Tropical Platypus. They (Bevmo) also had Almanac Farmers Reserve Citrus and the Almanac Lavender Honey De Brettaville, has anybody had any of them?

Aging might help but I think even the 3-4 months that it has already gone in the bottle might have helped it (I think I had mine 2 weeks after the release).

If you get to try some new breweries let us know what you think of them.

Also is Founder's Sleeper Cell DIPA, something that I should go and try on draft at my local place before it is gone or is it similar to other Founder's IPAs?

Has anyone had Deschutes Black Butte 27th Anniversary or 28th Anniversary? If so what was your thoughts? Thanks.

*The last one that I had was the 25th Anniversary and I thought was really good.

I'll probably sit on that Stone until October or so.

As for new beers I had at the Tahqaumenon Falls Brewery their Blueberry Ale which I really enjoyed. Strong Blueberry on the nose but more subtle in taste. Not sweet at all. And it was a good tasting Blonde Ale too. Also had the TFB Black Bear Stout. That one wasn't so great. Thin, kind of like a Guinness but not on the same level. Wouldn't drink another.

Lagunitas 12th of Never Ale. 5.5%

I am enjoying this beer, and it is a great pool/ocean beer. Some tropical fruit, some citrus and just a hint malt and medium amount of bitterness. A little watery.

Only a B overall as a beer but it is an A for the low ABV IPA/APA category.

Upper Hand Brewery UPA. I made the mistake of thinking this was gonna be an IPA from the U.P. It's an American Pale Ale and not a very good one.

Ore Dock Brewing Reclamation IPA. This is a pretty good beer. Not on par with top IPA's but plenty drinkable.

What I had last week:
Live Oak Doppelbock
Live Oak IPA
Live Oak Lichtenhainer

Taillinger Brut. Damn good bubbly.
Merlot.
Prosecco.

Then I went to a friend's place and he had me try all of his home brew beer. He makes good stuff. Sadly he's moving to Philly to open a brewery. Good for the people of Philly though.

Lots of Shiner Bock.
512 IPA
512 Strong Ale

Which Merlot and how was it?

Also how were the 512 beers?

I don't know which Merlot. It was just a standard every day drinker and kinda tasted like it. Not bad, but not outstanding. My friends normally buy nothing more than $12 when we meet for wine and cheese. I brought the bubbly and some damn good brie.

The 512 beers were good. The IPA is my go to around town, but they have plenty of good stuff. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Strong Ale. Their Pecan Porter is what they make their money on.

There are a few two buck chuck Merlots out here I actually really like... Tisdale is one, it's priced like a total throw away wine... But it's def more than drinkable and great for the money...

I sometimes buy Smoking Loon Merlot for $5 or $6. Not bad for the price but nothing special.

I'm actually not a fan of Merlot or Cab Sauv. I like most other wines though.

I've had that, enjoy it... My wife likes CupCake

I really only like Merlots and red blends (non sweet) zelezo...

The only reason we ever have white wine is for guests or cooking...

Why the Merlot and Red Blends? I'm having a blend right now. Decent, but I prefer dryer and more tannic wine.

Also I like white. But cheap white tastes cheap. One of the old tricks I was taught is to take sparkling water and cheap white wine, combine 50/50 and it's incredibly refreshing on a hot day.

I didn't know if it was a particular characteristic that you were searching for.

Ah,... My bad, been a tiring week,... I like dry as already noted,.. medium to light tannic, I like smooth, more fruit... I also don't want it to be overly bold... Anyway, Merlot is typically a wine I can rely on... I can def enjoy a Malbec for example but it's far more hit or miss... I tend to lean on Merlots and dry red blends...

Have some Rober Mondavi Private Select Merlot right now... It's another decent, cheap red we get here and there...

Was out with a client that is obsessed with old fashions. I finally cut us off after 4 each. Always a good drink when made correctly.
